Backlot Coffee

Backlot is an invaluable addition to the neighborhood. Their espresso drinks are expertly made and they collaborate with different bakeries around the city to provide delicious pastries. The staff is always friendly, the cafe is airy, and the atmosphere is great for working on your laptop, with a community table and individual tables. There's a parking lot and, if it's full, non-permit and non-metered parking on Keeler.

I have been in every day since opening, and this is a fine, charming place. The quality of the espresso is consistently excellent, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable, as well as sincerely friendly. They clearly know their stuff, yet this place is completely unpretentious about it. For example, I overheard them talking about whether to give a customer who orders "cappuccino" a traditional cappuccino or a more general sort.

It's a lovely place, with an excellent selection of coffees (by Stumptown Roasters) and food items: pies and hot, fresh biscuits from Bang Bang, doughnuts from Do-Rite, Argentinian-style gelato from Frio of Evanston, and more. I've already tried quite a few offerings and have not once been disappointed.

It has been a joy to see the place grow in their first week, with striking artwork now adorning the walls, and to see friendly faces from the neighborhood pop in. Although new, this coffee shop already ranks among my very favorites in the city, and I expect it will quickly become known as a fixture in the community.

This place always comes through with great coffee and great service. In addition to drinks and pastries you can also buy the same beans they use in their drinks and they'll grind it up for you. I usually walk there since I live in the neighborhood but they have parking too if you need it.

Only 4 stars because they were out of a few things including oat milk. However the service was good and the coffee was great I think I liked this place even more after reading the story behind the cafe. Great purpose, great coffee.

I love this coffee shop, decent atmosphere, cute decorations but the real star of this show is their coffee! They have an amazing roast and I live and die for their cardamom rose latte.

Came to this spot.for the first time and can't wait to go back.
