I don't really see why people think this is the best burguer in Chicago. I can think of 3 other places where the burger tastes better. Nonetheless, it was good, it tasted a bit better for me when I added the stuff that comes with the bone marrow appetizer (not sure what it was, but it was delicious). The cocktails we ordered were a little disappointing tbh, they tasted more like a soda. The service was great, very polite, friendly, and helpful. For the price though I was expecting more.

This place was out of this world. The only negative thing about this place was the three hour wait, but man the wait was definitely worth it. If you're hungry and have a huge appetite then get a double patty burger but a single is far more than enough. The fries and hasbrowns were a bit inconsistent, but the burger was superb and was definitely the game winner. I would come again and wait for another burger next time I'm in Chicago!

My partner and I dropped into Au Cheval in the early evening to try their burgers. We had a wait of ~30 minutes, which wasn't too bad. We were seated at the bar, which was a great place to watch the kitchen prepare all the food.
The restaurant was pretty busy and nearly every table was full. It felt very diner-like and from where we were sitting we could watch everything take place.
The service was sub-par, in my opinion. Our server rarely came by and was very short with us when we were trying to order anything. We had tried to order dessert but were presented with our check instead. We opted to pay and leave rather than order dessert as it felt they wanted to just turn the seats instead.
The crispy fries were fantastic. They were a great side to our burgers and I would certainly order them again. Unfortunately, the burger did not live up to the hype that circles this place. It was good, but not the best burger I have had before. For a good, quick meal with a diner-like experience, Au Cheval delivers. We do plan to give it another try as we mainly want to try their mille-feuille dessert.

Solid patty, with excellent bacon and a cheese that compliments well. Bun is toasted warm. Very much a great burger, although it has become a bit too crowded. Seems like a nice spot to meet with friends or a more formal burger date.

Best burger of my life!!! We come here every time we visit Chicago. We have never not had to wait for a table - even during the week for lunch - anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. The burgers are bomb, definitely get the bacon! The fries + dip are also incredibly delicious, worth the add on for sure! The drinks are also yummy, from my experience you can't go wrong. The staff is friendly and the food comes out fast!

Another "not my first time here, but first Google Review" for this place! Pro Tip: Avoid the waitlist - Best seats are at the counter around 11am! If you haven't figured it out yet for the Burgers: Single = Double; Double = Triple. Excellent service, food, and vibe - just like other Hogsalt Hospitality joints! Until next time!

Friendly staff, great service and food. Single burger is two patties and double is three patties. The added bacon was sweet so depends on your sweet tooth you may or may not want to add it it to your burger. The french fries with garlic aioli was 💯. Their hash brown was surprisingly super crunchy and flavourful but crumbly. Overpriced drinks that definitely hits the spot. The wait is worth it. If you don't want to wait, come right when they open

Musy-try: single cheeseburger with egg with bacon, foie gras,
Recommendation: crispy photo hash with duck heart gravy.
No reservation is taken. We waited for about half an hour which is not bad as it was 6 p.m. This restaurant is very popular. There are more people coming while we are waiting.
Cheeseburger is must try and do not miss the add on options. The bacon is a bit sweet which is a plus for the burger. For the foie gras, notice that NYC has a ban on goose liver, this restaurant in Chicago is the only place to try this dish.
Sadly they do not have chopped chicken liver today. You need to take roasted mallow bones along with bread and sauce. Otherwise, it is very greasy.
In all, the food served with high quality and fast speed. Highly recommend to try. The first several bites are very joyful but do not order too much. When a dish gets cold, the taste experience drops. The other reason is that the happiness comes from high calories cannot last long when you are very full.

Man o’ man the burger here is amazing!!! So much flavor!! The bacon is off the charts good. My food came out super quick.. like I barely ordered and BAM: food. That was quite impressive. The dessert was good but not my favorite, it was too dry for my taste.

Music was cranked so loud you had to shout across the table. Good tunes but eat there only if you don't want conversation. The food was good but expensive. Great burger but no fries come with your $17 burger. Hostess and service could care less if you eat there, there are plenty of people waiting for your table.
