Visiting Chicago? Here’s my review and suggested first order!

Get The burger with egg on it. No bacon.

Get the bacon on the side, it’s thickcut and it’s some of the best bacon you’ll ever try! And you can always put it on your burger if you want! (Plus it’s cheaper to get it on the side rather than on the burger 🍔 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯🥓 )

Finally. Get a crispy fries for the table. 🥔

🥤Also if you love coke, they do unlimited refills which is amazing 🤩

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️My review: Loved I’m Chicago my whole life (in the same west loop neighborhood) but I’ve never been here and I finally tried it and I wish I came here a few years ago, I’ve only ever tried their other sister restaurant “small cheval”. They’re both good but different.

This place is incredible! The food was ridiculously good - I haven’t stuffed myself like that in a while and it was 100% worth every penny. The customer service was above and beyond, and I love the music and atmosphere! My boyfriend and I had a great time!

I’ve been trying to eat here for a while but the wait time was always over 2 hours. I decided to put my name on the list and go for drinks elsewhere before and it was totally worth the wait! The burger is absolutely delicious (the double cheeseburger is actually a triple?!?!). The fries with aioli sauce are very good and the drinks are very tasty as well! Definitely the best burger I ate in Chicago and I will come back for more! Also, add a fried egg to it, it’s totally worth it!!!

I really don’t get it.

We waited two hours after putting our name down. They text you when the table is ready and you have 10 minutes to show up before you lose your spot.

The burger was painfully average, even with the added egg and bacon. The $9 side of fries were also… just plain old fries.
I’m usually not one to be overly-critical, but seriously not worth the hype. Maybe my expectations were just much too high thanks to reading reviews.

Regardless, save your time and money by going elsewhere.

Tasty burgers, fast service! This place is small and cozy. Lots of beers on tap, great booths and a long bar for patrons. Side note, single burgers have two patty’s and a double has three patty’s!

We popped into Au Cheval at lunchtime determined to try the burger everyone raves about! We sat at the counter, grabbed cocktails and watched the show! The line cooks are all hard at work turning out quality food super quickly and they make it look effortless! We didn't get the wings but they looked killer!!!

The drinks were really good! The Bee's Knees was well-balanced and refreshing. The honey pairs well with the gin and lemon! It was great for a warm afternoon. The smokiness of the mezcal was tamed but not muted by the grapefruit. I would definitely order it again!

As far as the burger? Good! I approve! We chose to split a double burger and got bacon it because...well you should always get bacon if possible! The thick cut bacon is peppered and was great on top of the burger. But? I've had better burgers. It wasn't bad by any means! It just wasn't memorable and my wife and I struggled to understand all the hype. I think you should come here and try it. But there are definitely better burgers to be had!

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend and it was worth eating at. Getting a table will take a while as there are no reservations and it is walk-ins only. I highly recommend ordering the bone marrow appetizer. The burgers are very good but a little salty and the fries with the garlic aioli were amazing. Everything is fresh to order and tastes great.

Amazing burgers! Great sides and sauces - the garlic aioli is so good! Waited a long time for a table but definitely worth the wait.
Atmosphere is a little loud

Was happily surprised to find a spot at the bar right away on a beautiful Sunday around 11am. Very fun sitting there watching the cooks work their magic and crank out the food. The fried bologna sandwich was sliced thin, piled high, and melt-in-your-mouth AMAZING. Not quite like the bologna you remember from childhood! I’ll be dreaming about it tonight. My husband got the single burger with the bacon and egg added. Outstanding. Don’t forget to split some fries. Very tasty with an incredible garlic dipping sauce! Can’t wait to go back.

Highly recommend the fried chicken, crispy potato Hash and bone marrow. It was all super delicious and full of flavour. I love the root beer float too
