This place has great atmosphere,
a counter to eat at and watch the cooks cook the burgers along with excellent service. I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Beware this place is very expensive. The french fries were cooked perfectly but we’re severely over salted. A cup of fries cost nine bucks. The fries are also cooked in their beef fat. They used to stand burger patties to make one burger so you are not really able to pick the wellness of your burger. The bun was very dense and was almost a little bit tough compared to the beef. The fries came out very hot but the burger and roll were lukewarm at best.
The burger proportion size to the bun was spot on. In the scheme of things this is probably not a place to get a Burger, they also charge a restaurant surcharge so right off the bat you’re getting nickel and dimed. He also have to wait a while for your food these things just didn’t pop out. One person, a burger and fries $27. This is far from the best in Chicago let alone the world.. They have an amazing garlic aïoli sauce that probably would taste great on the burger, the key to that sauce was it came out refrigerated.

The wait time was 1hr 30 min at 7pm weekday. Any later than that your looking into a 3 hr wait.
We were offered drinks by a waiter who occasionally comes outside to take drink orders and bring them out to you.
Good side is food is amazing , waiter was friendly, drinks are amazing.
Downside is the restaurant is tiny and refills take a while to come around.
It was pricey we spent around $140 two burgers and four drinks 🤷🏻♀️ But was worth it.

This place was amazing & our server made it a great experience (can’t remember his name, but he was from Houston, TX). I would definitely go back. Our favorites were the bone marrow, fried chicken, fried bologna sandwich. And the dessert shots!

I came here 2 times, both times the service was as impeccable as the food was. Very gluten free friendly (bonus points for separate fryers!) and our server gave really good recommendations for those with strict dietary limitations. I also had the omelette (not pictured - I have no self control and just dug in without taking a picture) but everything we had we loved. Every item (that we can have) was a safe choice. Definitely lives up to the hype :)

Yummm such an amazing burger spot! Au Cheval was one of the most anticipated spots for our trip and it did not disappoint. We went on a Saturday lunch time and of course, faced with a 2 hr wait window. We got our name and phone number down and was sent a text to be able to see the anticipated wait time and status update. Given how long the wait was, we walked over do get some coffee at sawada coffee (amazing spot as well). When it was finally our time, we checked in and were sat at the bar where we were able to watch all of the action! It was a bit warm due to the grill being close but still fine. We ordered the single burger with egg on top. Everything together and their sauce was just amazing and was perfect. The service was friendly and fast as well. From waiting a long time, we had snacked on some food and couldn't enjoy other items on the menu but hopefully we can come back to try more!

Came here on a Tuesday, right when it opened and didn’t have a wait! The food was phenomenal, per usual . If you order the cheeseburger (which you should), always add the bacon! That thick cut bacon is the perfect compliment to the burger . Big shout out to our server , Jordan, who was the best! He was so friendly, attentive , funny and even helped us with car advice 😂 My husband and I not only received an amazing meal but useful car tips as well.

Phenomenal burgers and fries! Egg on top of the fries is a must!
Great location in downtown Chicago West Loop area.
Maybe the best bacon 🥓 I’ve ever had!
Must stop foodie destination when visiting Chicago!

Overall we had a good experience. My son wanted to try it out. He had been to the other location previously. Went on a Sunday afternoon so it was pretty busy. We waited about an hour and half. They text when you’re table is ready and you’re able to follow along your wait time via the link they text you. Luckily the weather was nice so we took a walk down “restaurant row”. The actual restaurant is pretty small. It had a pretty cool atmosphere and very nice people. The food was good but a little pricey in my opinion. No sides are included. The honey fried chicken and fries were good, too.

Incredible service, food and experience. One of the best burgers I’ve had. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. Chicken was very good too, as well as drinks, salad and dessert.

First of all, the wait time is a bit longg….. but totally, 💯worth the wait! The food was superb!!! Our server was very knowledgeable and was on point with the suggestions (Ian was our server’s name) Because of him our dine in experience was very fab! Their food is something you’d come back again for. The space is a little bit tiny but everything else don’t matter because everything we ate was super good! ✨✨✨✨ Kudos to the staff!
