Alchemist is one of my favorite coffee shops in all of the Boise area! Admittedly i am not from here. I live in Portland. But i visit Boise frequently. There are a lot of coffee shops in the area but few on par with Alchemist. It is a class all to itself. Delicious coffee & food (their beans seem more carefully roasted & fresh), well balanced menu, fast and attentive staff, super cool space & merch, and decent prices! What else is there to want?!

I love this place. Creatively themed drinks that are enjoyable. The only issue I've had is internet instability. I show up excited to spend a few dollars on a couple of drinks and a few hours here writing another book on my laptop only to have to seek wifi access elsewhere.

The coffee was great! The food was fairly standard for a café. The breakfast selection is interesting and unique. The atmosphere is amazing I love the decor, the stressed wood tables are beautiful and the staff is so friendly and helpful despite being incredibly busy!

In my opinion, there are two main types of coffee served in Idaho. The first I call sugar coffee, where they use as much sweetness as necessary to hide the coffee. For example, Dutch Brothers serves 'sugar coffee' that appeals to people new to coffee and don't actually want to taste it. The second, I would just call 'coffee', or a traditional style coffee where the experience is all about focusing on the coffee itself. If sugar is added, it needs to only add to the coffee experience, not take it away.

Alchemist Coffee seems to serve an extreme version of sugar coffee. It also had a strong metallic taste that typically comes from sugar free syrups, but I couldn't tell.
The first sip was a great experience, despite not tasting at all like coffee. The second diminished in enjoyment, and by the third I had to stop. It was just too sweet. I came for coffee and got a steamed milk shake.

The place was crowded, which is a good sign others enjoy the coffee. So this review is probably only directed towards the coffee aficionado. If you are looking for a high quality traditional latte, go somewhere else. If you are new to coffee, and quite frankly hate the taste of coffee, this might be the experience for you.

The reason why I gave three stars though is not because of the low quality of my drink. It was because the entire experience was poor. It seems like the owner is not supporting the barista's with the equipment they need. The grinder failed, the barista obviously needed some training, the crema looked terrible, and the overall situation for the employees seemed dismal. Service was slow, but I honestly just felt bad for the baristas.

The lobby was excellent though, especially with the crowd.

I was in town visiting and someone turned me onto this and wow they’re getting a new location closer to downtown Boise and I can’t wait. Hadley and the other owners are the best. Don’t miss out get here soon

I love the decor and atmosphere! The first time we went here the coffee WAS NOT GOOD. We decided to give this place a second try once they were a little more established and I am glad we did! The coffee was delicious and so was the breakfast sandwich. Presentation of their food needs a little work, picture attached. This is how the sandwich was delivered to the table...

Such a fun theme throughout this coffee shop! Really cute decor with the alchemy theme from the name. Came here at 8am on a Saturday for coffee and a quick bite before getting started on errands for the day. Good selection of coffee and non-coffee beverages on the menu and lots of breakfast items. Had a 4 shot vanilla latte and avocado toast - both were very good. Lots of cozy seating options for our group of 4. We got a couch and 2 plush chairs around a coffee table by the window. Great atmosphere to sit and enjoy coffee and conversation. Will definitely be back!!

Wonderful atmosphere. Various ages socializing in a mellow atmosphere. Alchemist was recommended to me by a coworker. They have awesome cookies, delicious hot and cold beverages. We tried the avocado toast and the bacon mushroom quiche. YUM! I called ahead and picked up my order. It was ready in short time. We'll definitely go back!

I’m new to the area and today was my first visit to this coffee house. Wow! Is my first impression - a wonderfully inviting urban setting with plenty of room for small or large parties. Free wifi, friendly staff, wide assortment of choices on the menu along with a nice assortment of vegan and non dairy choices. And if you don’t like coffee there is tea and fruit smoothies. Choices to please all palettes.

I ordered a Pineapple Express smoothie that was wonderfully made - not too sweet with great tropical flavors. A must have if you are a fan of great smoothies.

My friend could not say enough about their Columbian blend of coffee - the aroma was a delightful mixture of chocolate and fruit tones and the coffee was smooth and had a wonderful flavor that was bold but not bitter or acidic. I could not get enough of the smell wafting from her cup.

I will definitely making this a regular stopping place!

We ordered mocha and avocado tomato toast and and margarite sandwich. The sandwich was awesome. It was right temperature, the bread was chibata which I love and it was tasty. As for avocado toast, they had ran out of chibata and made it with wheat toasts which is my least favorite. After telling them, they took it back very kindly refunded me for it. We sat for a bit longer after that when I saw the dude show up with a avocado toast sandwich with chibata bread. They actually had gone and bought it so quick and first thing they had in mind was to take of me. Impressive costumer service. I still think balsamic vinegar sause doesn't go well with avacado toast but that's just me.
P.S. please ask your staff to wear masks. Pandemic is not over yet.
