Vel is a great concept. Whenever I am in Savannah for business I stop by the cafe to work. Of course the coffee is great, the atmosphere is productive but it’s the staff that makes Vel one of my favorite stops when working remotely in Savannah.
The coffee is made really well and the baristas are super friendly. I love getting work done in the nest seats as well. Great place for the remote worker.
Great idea but could use some tweaks. I love the idea of a less committed coworking space and the location is great. There are ample power plugs.
There are a few tweaks that I'd make: * The lighting is really too much. I suspect it is intended to encourage you to rent a thinkspace or one of the minicubes, but it makes me want to leave not upgrade. * The music is probably also to encourage you to buy coffee or enter a pod, but its lulling me to sleep. I probably couldn't take it for long. * I'm the only one in here. The wifi is <10mbps. It isn't better than PERC or Gallery. The hours are roughly the same. * The free chair is cruel and unusual punishment. I think they all deliberately wobble. There is no back. If this was the only place in town this might work..but you have to get me to decide to work here first...I can't take this chair much longer. Maybe younger folks can but boy the nice fat chairs at gallery are pretty comfy. Even the benches at PERC don't wobble. * The wall propaganda on the wall makes me want to quote Tyler Durden. This weird decor might work in the valley or somewhere, but most of us here moved to get away from this decor.
Guys I came in here because I WANT to have a low commitment coworking space. As the weather gets cooler I'd like a place to walk to. See some other people around while avoiding the tourists, but make some tweaks. You don't have to coerce me with discomforts, I'd easily pay for the pod like half the day because of meetings, but you have to make me want to be here first...this light...I'm melting....

Probably some of the best coffees I’ve ever had in my life. Daniel really knows what he is doing. Absolutely love him and his drinks
