Great food, crumby service. Every time we’ve visited, the service has gotten worse. Currently waiting on a to-go order because they didn’t answer the doorbell despite having no customers. I would have just left, but my daughter’s heart was set on arepas. I had a friend mention the owner doesn’t like kids and I’m beginning to think she’s right. That visit with my friend and our kids, it took 45 minutes to get our food and no apologies on the fact that in that time we could have made our own arepas from scratch at home. They also dropped one of the plates on the way to the table. Mysteriously the new arepa show up 60 seconds later. Unfortunately, it seems we’ll have to start making them at home and not supporting local businesses.

I recently had the pleasure of celebrating my son's birthday at Troupial, to fill some of my venezuelan nostalgia for birthday celebrations. I am absolutely delighted with the offerings. The cafe is a true gem, offering a range of unique and delicious dishes that are sure to tantalize any food lover's taste buds.
Troupial was able to cater and rent the venue in their closed hours. We order the tequeño, which is a traditional Venezuelan dish made with dough and filled with cheese. The tequeño was perfectly crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, with just the right amount of saltiness to balance out the sweetness of the dough.
Next, the owner brought trays of golfeado, which is a sweet pastry made with brown sugar and anise. The golfeado was incredibly soft and buttery, with a wonderful aroma and flavor that reminded me of home, and it was top with a piece of queso de mano.
Following the golfeados, we had the Almojabana, which was absolutely divine. The bread was incredibly soft and fluffy.
And of course, I couldn't leave without trying the guava bread and chocolate bread, which were just as delicious as it sounds.
But what really set Troupial apart was its coffee selection. My guest had an extensive range of brewing techniques and coffee beans to choose from, and the quality of the coffee was outstanding. The aroma and flavor of the coffee was so rich and robust, it was truly a treat for the senses.
To top it all off, the venue itself was absolutely picturesque, with contemporary art and Venezuelan art lining the walls. It was the perfect setting to enjoy a delicious meal and some excellent coffee.
Overall, I highly recommend this Venezuelan cafe to anyone who loves good food and great coffee. The tequeño, golfeado, almojabana, guava con queso bread and chocolate bread are all must-tries, and the coffee selection is truly impressive. And with its charming venue and friendly staff, this cafe is sure to become a favorite for anyone who visits. Best part they cater! I had a lot of leftovers to bring back home to Atlanta

A lovely brunch experience with fresh baked Venezuelan breads, specialty coffees, juices, and dishes. On a nice day, they have patio seating too.

Located in a handsomely decorated, two-story Victorian house with vintage furniture and some amusing paintings on the wall (check out the clown in the bathroom and Last Supper with cats), Troupial is a fancy-ish Venezuelan spot. They serve excellent coffee, along with a variety of Venezuelan dishes, many of which we tried the two times we had lunch there. The finger food, Pastelitos Andinos and Tequenos, are delectable fried things to be dipped in a yellowy mayonnaise sauce. Among the large selection of arepas, we particularly liked the Perico (Venezuelan style fried scrambled eggs) and the Domino (black beans and cheese). This ideal spot for dawdling is on the edge of Savannah's hipster Starland District.
