I wasn’t sure about this restaurant because it’s German but it was very good! The menu was easy to read and explained well. It’s a good mixture of German and American and we really enjoyed it! Staff were very friendly and attentive!! The restaurant was cozy and clean and a really good atmosphere! Will definitely visit again when we are in the area. Totally recommend!

This was our second time visiting! Great food & service. Baked goods are also delicious. I had the corned beef hash & my husband had the morning delight. Highly recommend one morning on your trip to Helen!

this is the BEST restaurant in helen!!!
my husband and i were really not impressed by the town of Helen, and every time we tried to eat at any restaurant there was always a huge line, chaos, and you have to pay $10 just to park which is not practical if you are only there to eat dinner. this place has a free parking lot and the building is actually clean unlike the other places we visited in the town.
we loved it so much the first time that we came back again before we left for home. Barbara took care of us both times and was doing an excellent job with all of her tables.
the food was excellent. i got french toast the first day and bacon onion hash the second time. also tried the strawberry cheese croissant which was great. this place is the only reason i’d bother coming back to helen.
i do recommend getting there right as they open or else you’ll have to wait in line for a while unless it’s during the week.

Was here when they opened, 8AM. The line gets long quick. Luckily, I got a table right at 8. Ordered the mountain hiker breakfast with coffee, and it came within 5 minutes. WOW!
The food was fantastic, great portion and excellent roles. Recieved a warm up on the coffee before it was even half empty. Had to get a few things from the retail shop. If back in the area, this will be a must go back.

This is a must see if you ever stop in Helen. Truly a one of a kind. It has a very cozy country atmosphere with great service and even better food. Our portions were ginormous! The bakery items looked delicious but unfortunately we were too stuffed to try them out. Their dining area is VERY small so expect a long wait to get in.

Before leaving town for Oktoberfest I had to stop by at least one local breakfast shop and found Hofer’s Bakery and Cafe. If you are driving do be careful, the parking in the back is very tight so be cautious going in and out.

The dining area inside is a tad smaller than most places but that wasn’t an issue at all, just a small wait. While your waiting you can order German Coffee from the bakery section and maybe a muffin too! As soon as we were seated in the dining area it felt extremely welcoming and comfortable with all the people. Super cozy.

The food is really well priced, and the food definitely warmed you up like a cozy fire place during winter. It was also great to see the staff having fun and dressing up for Halloween 👻 Next time I go back to Helen, I’ll make sure to stop by and get some great breakfast.

Only pork for the 2 kinds snitzel on the menu (plan snitzel should be viel) I order the Jägerschnitzel can be pork but a bit thick, served as 2 small paties and was greasy, not well breaded, the mushroom gravy simply was not good. In fact I'm not sure but tasted like brown Graveyard with red cabbage juice with mushroom.
Wife order Sauerbraten, she said it was ok, to me it was a bit stringy, grave is usually Harty using souring liquids but this was a thin cream gravey and very little. It taste stringy like really cheap meat and was ¼" Thick at most.
Red Cabbage was good, Spätzle was okay but appeared to be pan fried after making, heat up?

Order $10 bread plate hoping for some good brochen and desert breads.
There was one really good small single bite lemon bar. A couple of pieces of raisen snd spice bread, and a plain bisquit? Really, simular to a McDonald's breakfast bisquit but flatter. I think it was suppose to be a scone... yuck. No Brochen??

Really, you can not walk 4 blocks in any small German town without seeing someone selling brochen (German Hardrolls).

Anyways atmosphere was good in the de oration of building and costumes of wait staff.
As for staff, with exception of taking orders, delivering food .. we did not see them stop by. Had to call to remind them we needed lemon, also had to get them for check.
No German music... instead we were served generous portions of classical... kinda strange since this was October Fest!

Menu.. we received regular menu, plus a paper printer Octoberfest Menu...Identical meals, but prices were raised? When Asked why prices were higher we were told, octoberfest and serving brunch (? No we did t get this price hike.. but were charged these higher prices for lunch). Many items not in menu...

Having been to Germany multible times and living there over 3 years, I acquired a taste for German quisene.. I espically love Brochen (not offered) both milk and the standed water ones. (Milchbrötchen, Wasser Brötche). I also love snitzel, all types! Jägerschnitzel with good mushroom, shallots, tomatoes, Vienna Schnitzel, viel, pan fried crispy, with lemons to squeeze over the top, Zigeunerschnitzel (not offered) (spices gypsy snitzel viel, pork or chicken with spicy peppers sauced on top... were my favorite.
Also made Sourbraten (neatly any meat soured over 10 days in vinegar, wine and spices and served with potatoes pancakes ...

I miss this food... and after today, I miss it more.
3 stars is high but wife apparently enjoyed it more than o dod so raised star values to 3.

I had the Bacon Onion Hash with Scrambled Eggs and it was delicious. Even though the restaurant was already full just after they opened, the service was quick and friendly. It was an excellent way to start the day.

Its decent food. not sure if it was worth the 1 hour+ wait. But they do have a great selection of german deli’s and baked goods(which as a German, i deeply enjoyed)

We tried eating here on a Saturday morning and the line was out the door so we decided to try again this morning.

I'd say the best breakfast in helen, hands down.

The service was great, staff was friendly and food was delicious!
