Hofer's Bakery and Cafe

A nice and cozy place. Usually very crowded, so if you are tight on schedule, do not think of a quick bite. The food is good, fancy and somewhat reasonably tasty. You can find very interesting deserts, colorful and different, mostly inspired from Europe. The price is a little higher than expected. The decor is awesome! The staffs are ok.

Good cakes, and regular coffee was standard as you get at any gas station. We wanted to have a good quality coffee but they were closing the store so we couldn’t but we will be back earlier another day to really have a good try at their coffee. To be honest their cakes were delicious so it’s definitely worthy to come back.

You have to visit this amazing place if you are in Helen!
Awesome bread, tasty Deli, and beyond delicious sweets! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I strongly recommend sour bread and the Dark forest ham!
You wont regret visiting this lovely place!

Everything was amazing. We got here early so we didn't have to stand in line that long. The coffee was offerd immediately and refilled when needed and it was amazing coffee.... husband had the mountain climber breakfast and I had their famous biscuits and gravy with a side of eggs and potatoes, came with a poppy seed roll and bread, everything was really great. We walked here from our hotel, a short 5 minute beautiful music filled walk. Our server was amazing and friendly and attentive. Service was fast and efficient.

Definitely worth the 1.5 hour wait to be seated! The omelet was probably the best I have ever tasted. The eggs were fluffy, the meat/cheese amount was perfect and the cheese bread from the bakery was so good! Also, I ordered potatoes on the side and they were cooked to perfection. The pastries from the bakery are wonderful and I'm very glad I brought some extras back to TN with me so I can enjoy them for a couple more days!

WORTH THE WAIT! Do not be deterred by the long line in this cafe. The cafe was wonderful - great hospitality by our server Julie, fast service, delicious food options, and even a coffee to go. We hit up the bakery on the way out for some delicious pastries to enjoy at home. I cannot recommend Hofer’s enough, it’s a must-see and my #1 favorite experience in Helen, GA.

Every time we come here it has been a great experience. We came for lunch when they opened at 12, and there was already a line waiting. Once we were seated, it was no time before our drinks were ordered and out to us. After we placed our entrée order, it was brought out in about 20-25 minutes. Each meal was fresh and hot. The sampler with 3 different types of bratwurst, saurcraut, and mashed potatoes and gravy was fantastic! So much flavor and the mashed potatoes and gravy were an excellent consistency. It also came with a pretzel dumpling, which was full of flavor. It may not be for you, but i liked the consistency and flavor of it. My youngest loved his grilled cheese, and my wife said her veggie sandwich tasted good as well. Our waitress was great with making sure we were taken care of. The dining area was very clean.

Cons: Dining area is small if you have a stroller or a large family. (We still fit, but if it was tight). 2.) The bathrooms are really small, and they do not have a changing table.

There is no place quite as good to get homemade pretzel rolls and a great breakfast. The staff is always friendly. We never miss out on eating here when we visit Helen. We had a omelette this time! Yummy

You like German authentic this comes really close. Breakfast are great, cake and bread are awesome, reminds me on Germany. Great selection on German imports, little bit pricey but when you from Germany there is always something what you need or want.

My friend and I came here a couple weekends ago, and absolutely love it! Our waitress Marva (we think) spent the time to explain everything on the menu and helped us decide what we wanted to eat and drink since we had no idea. She was amazing and so nice. The food itself was so good. It was a ton and even after hiking all day, we still took a lot of leftovers home. Extremely flavorful and well prepared.
