Rum Cake Lady Cuban Food Downtown Blue Ridge

Really tasty food and now my wife and I are obsessed with their Cuban sandwiches, she likes their pork bowls and the Mojo sauce. Very clean flavors. Rum cake was very moist, gluten free options, too!

Tampa native here. When I saw a Cuban place in Blue Ridge that had a Tampa Cuban on the menu I had to try it. First, The Tampa Cuban should just be called a Cuban sandwich. There is historical evidence that shows the Cuban sandwich is a product of Tampa Cuban and Italian cigar workers who used spare meat to make a quick sandwich. The traditional Cuban meats are ham, pork, and salami. The fact there are two Cubans and they have to call the traditional one a Tampa Cuban is kind of a smack in the face. I let that go since we are in GA and I cannot expect historical accuracy. With that aside the Tampa Cuban was just ok. I guess I am spoiled living in Tampa and getting to eat the best Cuban sandwiches in the world whenever I want so I was a tad disappointed here. It’s not bad, but the pork was dry, and was more like a pulled pork. The ham was ok, and the salami was decent. A good press and the cheese was nicely melted. I felt it was missing a good Mayo and mustard which made the sandwich feel a bit dry. The Cuban bread was also more chewy instead of having a good tear and crunch. The beef empanada has a good crunch but the meat didn’t seem to have any seasoning . The ham croquets were really good and I’d definitely recommend those. The rum cake was very good and moist. I did have an issue when I was given the wrong bag and then I was somehow blamed for it which really ticked me off since the bag was literally handed to me when I turned my ticket in. They called my number 45 and when I went to the pick up counter an older lady looked at my ticket then handed me a bag. I didn’t know I was supposed to also check the bag for accuracy ( I figured that was the entire point of calling out numbers, checking the number and then handing me the bag). I was stopped before pulling out which I’m thankful for but then the guy said I grabbed the wrong bag ... It literally was handed to me. I would give two stars total for my experience but I’m going with 3 stars because the rum cake was really great. If you’re from central /south Florida and are used to eating the best Cuban sandwiches around, the great reviews might be a bit Mis leading.

The rum cake lady is great! They have great food, with gluten free, vegetarian, and kid friendly options. The service was great, the ladies in there are super nice and friendly!

Food was amazing, i tried the Cuban sandwich and plantanes. The pastries and empanadas very delicious. Space was limited, it was hard to find a table during peak lunch time.

The rum cakes are delicious. They're moist & dense. There's some flavors I've never seen before in a rum cake, such as the red velvet, so I had to try it. I like that you can buy a mini personal size.

Love this place!! Line is long but it moved fast and the food is absolutely worth it. Tried a ton of the foods and everything was delicious. The beef empanadas and Cuban sandwich were our favorites.

Great food! Not the prettiest place but don't let that fool you!! Best tamales I've ever had!

The rum cake was excellent. Also grabbed a couple of ready to eat meals and tamales from the fridge and they were tasty also. Will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area.

What a great find this place is! Our lunch was fantastic! My husband had a steak sandwich and I had a ground beef bowl and we shared an order of yucca fries - everything was fresh and delicious! Elizabeth was super friendly and suggested green sauce for my ground beef bowl - which was a perfect addition! And of course the rum cakes!.... We couldn't resist and bought a small variety - limoncello mini cakes were our favorites! Definitely a must try place!

The Rum Cake Lady Cuban Food is a must stop! There food is delicious. We had a turkey Cuban with Guava & Cheese Pastelitos for dessert, and some to go! The coffee is authentic and AMAZING!
