The Perfect Cup Cafe

Torn on how I feel about this place. I came in with a friend last week, to basically find the manager berating her staff in front of the customers. Again - as this has happened almost every time I've been there. This is very unfortunate - they seemed to all be young, and did not need to be treated that way. Not to mention a lot of time was being wasted doing this instead of maybe doing this in private. As my friend was ordering his food, the cashier and trainee (I believe) were pulled off the register as he was in the middle of speaking. The espresso we ordered was overexpressed, and a bit grainy. The muffin and breakfast sandwich were good, as was the coffee drink I ordered (a bit too much milk, but still tasty).

The food is usually good but very heavy on butter. It's usually smokey inside from all the Burnt butter. My eyes burn by the time I leave. Overall decent food. The poor servers always look like they are the verge of a nervousness breakdown because the owner/cook is an I'll tempered micromanager who is constantly telling them they are doing everything wrong

We have been going to The Cup for over 10 years. It was terrific under the previous owner, and now it is, surprisingly, even better with the new owner. Other(s?) commented negatively on the owner being a micromanager and being hard on employees, but ZI think that is in part responsible for the consistently high quality.

For breakfast the omelets, breakfast burritos, and country breakfast (two eggs your way, sausage, bacon, delicious thick cut toast -sourdough, rye) are delicious. Their hash browns are the best around. Lots of filling choices for the omelets, which are stuffed full and cooked properly.

For lunch, they make a grilled reuben that is (no pun intended) perfect. The right proportions, toasty but not greasy, tangy, cheese melted properly...just delicious.

I'm almost hesitant to write in such glowing terms because selfishly I don't want a ton of people competing for table space, but the owner deserves kudos.

I can't manage to finish my sandwich, feeling a bit grossed out with the lack of cleanliness. At first I though it was just busy with not being able to find a clean table...(crumbs, spills ...etc) After I proceeded to clean my table with a baby wipe I had handy I noticed the floors were filthy. When I saw staff "cleaning" the tables I got excited..only to see the staff member half clean tables and completely miss cleaning areas that CLEARLY were dirty. What grossed me out the most was the person handling food/ giving food to customer with long acrylic nails and no gloves ..germs germs germs...

but perhaps what upset me the most was the way the manager? owner? belittles her staff (I have not been back here in about 4 years... she has reminded me why I stopped coming to this place to begin with)

As for the food ..generous portions of ok tasting food ...i did enjoy the lemonade

Great place, this was my first visit. Theres a ton of stuff on their menu so I'll have to come back to try more things. The iced mocha I got was excellent and the bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich I got there was tasty as well. Will definitely be going back.

Amazing food, especially the gluten free pancakes! Great service friendly staff.

Love this place! The couple that own it are extremely nice and know me by name and how I like my sandwich. Very clean and food is always amazing! I recommend the blonde very tasty!

I ordered takeout breakfast sandwiches and a mocha latte on the way to catch a train. Sadly the barista forgot the mocha flavor. Mistakes happen. The breakfast sandwiches were absolutely delicious. I hope to return again whenever I'm in the area.

So glad this place opened back up. The new owners are super nice, they offer fast service, and great quality. I got an iced latte and egg sandwich and they were both very good.
