Love Rumors European Cafe on Mill Plan Road, Danbury. We have been a fan of Peter's from before he opened the cafe, when was coffee vending at local events. Rumors is quaint; it's inviting and arm chair comfortable. The sounds and the aromas of each coffee creation lull you into a peaceful, satisfied state of being. The coffee is wonderful. There is something for everyone and every taste here! The baked goods offered are fresh and delicious. There is casual seating outdoors for those non-precipitating days, if you wish. And, there are boardgames inside if you like! Easy to make new friends at Rumors; sit & chat a while! And, oh yeah, Peter and his staff: super friendly... and that's no rumor, that's a fact! Try my fave, " The Classy Lady" ... yum!
I've had oodles of lattes and pastries in my time (arguably too many), but Rumors has some of the best of both I've ever had. My mom and I stopped here for a bite on Monday around mid-day. The location is arguably not ideal, depending on your perspective. We were coming from Redding so our trip involved navigating around 84 and then slowly making our way down a busy county highway to make sure we didn't miss it (sometimes I let my Google Maps rest so I can live on the edge a bit). It's a little chaotic but also convenient in that it's a pretty direct route. I also enjoyed the fact that there was an intriguing canine grooming facility right next door though I didn't have the good fortune of encountering any of its customers.
Rumors is very cute inside; I feel like every coffeehouse is sort of unique/quirky in the same way, and this was no exception. There was a giant furry spider decoration encircling an entryway to the bathroom, a lending library and - my personal favorite - a TV showing videos of puppies and kittens. The only way to improve it would have been to have actual puppies and kittens roaming around, but I can only imagine the potential health code drama that would ensue. No matter.
I ordered their seasonal strawberry rose latte, along with an almond Danish. The latte was perfect - it had the perfect balance of flavor without being too subtle or too overwhelming. The Danish was more than up to the task of matching that performance too. Danishes aren't my go-to pastry; they're often too flaky/crumbly, basically the bakery version of a Nature Valley bar, and like their croissant relatives, often don't have their filling evenly distributed. This had great consistency in both texture and taste, and every bite was scrumptious and flavorful. Despite trying to cajole my mother into getting a latte, she adamantly refuses to drink coffee products and instead opted for a hot chocolate (served in an owl mug that I was pretty jealous of) and a cheese Danish. She enjoyed both and hopefully will be providing her own account of this experience.
Great discovery - it's always pleasing to find an establishment that matches (and possibly exceeds) the hype.
They have such a variety of drinks! They also have gluten free pastries and tons of games to play if you decide to sit inside. I was passing through so I stopped in and if I’m in the area again I would come back.
Great little coffee shop. The ambience is very nice and the coffee is great. The staff is very friendly. They have a lot of board games and old school seating. They have a ton of interesting collectible. Would visit again.
I went to Rumors today for the first time and I am already looking forward to my next visit! The shop itself is warm and welcoming, providing a comfortable WiFi equipped space to work or catch up with a friend. The coffee selection is expansive, unique, and customizable. I ordered the “bad witch latte” and a tender slice of banana bread, both of which were delightful. Peter has such a kind demeanor and is extremely accommodating, contributing to an overall “hometown” coffee shop experience which really sets Rumors apart from other shops. Go visit Peter and grab a tasty pastry to enjoy alongside your caffeinated cup of choice! :)
Over all great place. Coffee is delicious, they have games to play while there. Its a cute small little shop, but the atmosphere was alittle weird to me. Still great place, but just felt awkward being there. Might not be for me, but im sure many others will enjoy
Totally love this place. It's a very LGBTQ+ friendly cafe with great service and greta coffee. Had an awesome first date here, and will definitely return. Would rate 10 stars if I could!
