The breakfast burrito will leave you wanting more. Salto had a really good house coffee. I love local shops roasting their own beans. Definitely recommend if visiting Nederland.

My family and I drove from out of town to go to the Nederland Farmer’s Market a couple Saturday’s ago. We accidentally went up a one-way looking for parking and when we realized it, we were looking for somewhere to turn around (it was a short stretch of the road and so we went to the next street and turned off). My windows were down, enjoying the nice semi-fall weather. This woman with blonde dreads working the Salto Coffee tent screamed at us that we were going the wrong way down a one way, which by this time I had already realized. I said “I know...” and went to say that it was an accident and before I could get out another word she screamed again “YEAH YOU KNOW, BUT YOU’RE STILL DOING IT AND IT’S ILLEGAL!!!” I was shocked. Not only did she scream at us plus my 3 children in the backseat, but it was at her work and in front of the entire audience at the farmer’s market! I resisted the urge to confront her when I saw her at the market, and decided to let her potential customers know exactly how this employee (or owner... I am not sure how she’s connected to Salto Coffee, but she was working the tent) treats people in her daily life. If you are in the market for some great coffee, please consider another local option for coffee. If this had not happened, we likely would have purchased coffee from her tent and likely would have been a repeat customer because we LOVE coffee. I was/am very disappointed to say the least.

Side note: When we didn’t find parking after going down the one way the wrong way, we went back up the one way the right way to go down a different road and at least 3 cars were coming down the wrong way, so we had to wait on them to pass. Was she screaming at them, you ask? No, she was not. And neither was I, because I’m a decent human who understands that sometimes people take a wrong turn or don’t see the signs when turning on a road.

This would be a neat location to bundle up and sip coffee by their outdoor fire pit. We got cold brew in a canister that lasted us through our AirBNB trip and was so perfectly good.

Cute coffee shop. The 7 grain porridge was delicious and very filling.

Large, warm coffee shop! Latte was a bit odd. Taste is fine, but it is the first time I have had a latte in a glass.

The raspberry lattice shortbread bar was soft and buttery. My only problem was the seeds. A seedless raspberry coulis made into jam is only a few minutes longer to strain.

Very nice find on a busy Nederland day. Was recommended as a favorite by another restaurant hostess that had a 40 minute wait. Good fresh food and good fresh beer, open patio, quite enough atmosphere; relaxing not dull.

Chose to have our wedding reception at Salto. It was a fantastic experience all around with a great manager and staff that worked hard to make the evening run smoothly. Great vibes when stopping in for coffee/tea/beer when in Ned.

Can I bring this place with me to California? Hands down the BEST scone I've ever tasted. Tomato Basil, crumbly and buttery. Dirty Almondmilk Chai = divine. Breakfast sandwiches are forever ruined for me. I am so glad we decided to stay in Nederland instead of Boulder. Amazing.

I used to love Salto. The wood fire and the building are beautiful. The food, which often changes, is pretty good, and seems to have got more affordable. The coffee is impeccable, of course, and the Tin Shed store is really fun. However, on my last trip, they seemed to have installed a huge outside gas-burning fire, which means that I can never go back. In a ski town, when the world is nearing 1.5C of warming, arbitrarily burning fracked gas (have you seen the smog cloud over the plains this winter?) for the purpose of heating up the outside (?) is completely morally unacceptable. I asked for it to be turned off and was told that "more people complain if we turn it off". The management made the decision to install this fire in the first place and so must bear the blame for their ongoing climate damage and pollution. People would be unlikely complain about a non-existant fire. It's not compulsory to have one. If this sort of thing is normalized by otherwise admirable businesses like Salto, we (all of us) really are in trouble.

Delicious breakfast burrito and chai (oat milk) latte. The chai is perfectly spiced and not too sweet, just how I like it. I also tried a dirty chai (with an espresso shot) and that was likewise quite tasty for the extra energy boost! Friendly people working there.
