Interesting to wander. Variety of exhibits including a plant/garden exhibit on the top floor. The exterior copper lattice facade was beautiful. Free admission. The receptionist was very welcoming though coming in with 4 kids from age 9 to 13 we had the security guy follow us around.

The building itself is an impressive piece of architecture featuring an earthy woven exterior with a interior/exterior staircase that that reaches the rooftop. Entry and coat check are free and there’s a nice cafe on the roof with a great view of the slopes.

The best and most interesting is the building itself, glass, concrete and wooden architecture, don't miss the terrace for a good look at the town and mountains or if you want to have some basic food and drinks.
The art itself is a random collection of weird stuff, good for visiting before going to the airport if you have some extra time. Street parking.

Suggest to only spend your spare time here in this small museum. No entry fee but be generous in your donation.
Rooftop cafe is a simple eating place for coffee and pastry. We still think Starbucks make better matcha latte. Be ready to pay a little more in this cafe. For driver, street Parking is $6.20 for 2 hours.

A mind blowing experience. Speaking with the staff who gave more information as to the methodology behind the artists work is amazing. The shop is also currently its own exhibit which is amazing in itself. The museums admission is free and that’s what made it even more amazing to experience.

Such a beautiful museum. Great staff. Also free to go in. Although, I donated $20 for me and my daughter.

So. We visited the Aspen Art Museum ~ 8 years ago when it first opened and the curator/director was dragging down $800k/year. Not to sugar coat, it was awful. A week ago, August 2021, we went back, just to see the progression, and just for fun. It was fun. It didn't disappoint. And it is still awful. It is so bad it is fun. This time the best "exhibit" is a repeating video screen of a dog licking the windows. I kid you not. One of the prime exhibits is a bunch of neon tubes fashioned into what looks like a bunch of bicycles crashing. There is a "guide" in that exhibit. I ask him if it is indeed supposed to be a bike crash. He strokes his chin. He looks at it sorta critically. He says, "ya it looks like that to me too", like he is just considering this possibility for the first time. Ain't Art Grand!!!!! The roof top garden is the best part. Be sure to go all the way to the top. Great views. Lovely garden. Maybe we will go back in another 8 years.....just for fun....

The Art Meuseum is a must visit spot in Aspen. It is free to visit and has some very interesting architecture. The view from the rooftop is nice and you can also grab a bite to eat in the Cafe. The exhibit was Andy Warhol originals which was cool to see those in person. I only deducted a star because I am not a major fan of this type of art and this was the only exhibit at a time. But if you are in the area then this is worth a visit. ( I do not own any rights to the artwork but we did ask permission to photograph, these works can easily be found online, enjoy!)

Not sure how someone could be so pretentious that they’d give this gorgeous ***FREE*** museum one star. The exhibit we saw today was thought provoking and varied. The rooftop cafe was quaint and lovely. The building is architecturally marvelous. And the staff was super polite and helpful.
Will definitely return on our next trip!

Go here if you want to be totally confused and amazed at the same time. Free entry, beautiful location, and unique art! I NEVER know what to expect when I come here (a couple of times a year). Sometimes I relate to it, sometimes I don't. Overall, it is worth the stop. It takes me 2 hours at most to walk through, and again, it is very unique. It really shows just how anything can be art if you look at it that way! They also offer a small Cafe in the summer time.
