Schat's Bakery & Cafe

Bread, coffee, cookies and cakes were great! But we ordered breakfast sandwiches and they were soggy and tasteless. Overloaded with egg and not enough sausage, not a real panini roll. And my stepdads ciabatta roll was not really a ciabatta roll and way too big to eat for one person.
However, the salad I had the other day was really good, the apple and cheese.
This place is on the pricey side for a loaf of bread but it is excellent quality.

Sh*tty. do not go to this busy, loud, and obnoxious bakery if you're passing through. The people who work there seem tired of dealing with people and can be very rude. The salad was wilting, and the chicken sandwich my wide ordered had undercooked chicken on it to the point it was nearly raw. Also the pastry that we got to go with our lunch was doughy and bland.

Would NOT recommend!

Breakfast Burritos were awesome. Curbside pickup was efficiently run. Covid-19 service was adhered too. Staff was clean, polite and helpful. 5 Stars.

Food here is amazing but we ordered a custom birthday cake that was to read "Happy 18th Sebastian". We pick it up and it reads, "Happy Birthday Mom." Not even close. There wasn't even another cake back there like ours meant for a "mom". Really disappointed. Only gave two stars because of the sincerity of the apology from the cashier. Even then, no discount or anything offered for the inconvenience if now having to be late to the party with the cake.

Excellent bread products. I often purchase a dozen cookies or cupcakes for co-workers when I am feeling generous. Schat's bakery provides excellent flavor and service at a fair price.

I bought a giant jalapeño cheese bread, and another bacon cheese bread. Only about $10 each!!! and sooooo good for sandwiches, or just pull apart and grab the cheesy crust part off the top for yourself. I will make a point of stopping back in Ukiah for more very soon! 🤩

Great service, Gabby did an outstanding job. Was getting something special and she made sure it was.

A little expensive. But it's worth it. I used to live in Ukiah. I forgot how busy this place gets. Nearby is the Courthouse, Mendocino Book Company, and even some students come in here. It was nice to come back here and get a sandwich, that was very good. (Like I remember them being.) Still very good. I'm here on Dec . 24th, and it's loud, but they are playing holiday music. I wish I could hear it better, and enjoy my coffee in a little quieter atmosphere. But it's Christmas Eve. It's a very nice place and I was happy to come in again on my visit back to Ukiah.

We stopped in Ukiah for lunch and Google Maps highlighted the gloomy brewpub at the corner - I didn't notice Schat's on the restaurant list (shame on Google). Fortunately we parked in front of Schat's. Light, airy, old-fashioned, and an incredible bakery. We split a salad and a Reuben - both excellent. And then a waitress came around with a plate full of cookies - 6 or more kinds - and offered us free samples. "Take as many as you want", she said in a cheery voice! She even offered cookies to 4 teenagers who were loitering outside and had not bought anything.
I want to move to Ukiah so that I can go here every day.
