Philz Coffee

Please don't visit this particular Philz. It's closed to due to staff shortages. There's no alert on Google. No prior indications. Very poor management. Please do not visit this entity. It's not worth your time. Starbucks is far superior and far more professional. They have the funds to hire enough people.

While I am happy that a Philz finally opened in San Ramon, I have to say this location is consistently inconsistent with their coffee. Sometimes, they get it right, other times way off. Most recently, I ordered light cream in my coffee, and my drink tasted like there was no coffee in it whatsoever. It was all cream. Maybe the baristas here need to be trained better so they are all consistent with their orders.

I love Philz. I loved them in San Jose when I first tried them and I loved them on heavy work days in SF. Today is my birthday and I mistakenly ordered via mobile to the Walnut Creek location when I meant to order the San Ramon location.

Without HESITATION when I realized what I did, the barista closest to me, Arleen (I’m not sure spelling!) made my drink, said it happens all the time, and had me out the door within minutes.

Truly the most pleasant experience I’ve had messing up on my own order. I hope her boss knows what a wonderful employee Arleen is and how much it means to me to not leave empty handed after the mistake I made.

When it comes to coffee, I swear by Philz. I’ve followed them everywhere over the years.

This location (San Ramon) is the most un-Philz addition to the impeccable standards of the Philz. Gone are the friendly baristas. No one cares about how your coffee tastes. The coffee is a hit or miss; often watered down (even without the ice). The food’s anywhere between barely warm to lukewarm, even when picked up right away.

I don’t hesitate to drive all the way to Walnut Creek just to feel like I’m getting coffee at a Philz.

Just order coffee with their app. Always ready when they say it will be.

I love their Ether coffee. I've tried other things they have, and now it's all I will buy there. I did want them to put it in my cup, which they wouldn't do. It seems a shame to waste a cup. I don't know if that's a pandemic thing or just their policy.
