I had a late lunch at La Bande during my short, overnight stay in San Francisco. I walked into the restaurant — menu unseen — and left a customer for life.
Josh provided impeccable, attentive service and terrific recommendations. The tapas were on par with excellence — savory, carefully crafted bites with some pleasant surprises. Paired with a good wine or cappuccino, every part of the meal was simply delicious.
I hope to be back for La Bande’s delectable bites, top-notch service, and quaint atmosphere soon.
This restaurant may be small but it will fill you up. It’s tapas style and everything I had was delicious. I went with the Chef’s choice. I said surprise me!
Josh, the chef, was an excellent host. My favorite was bread with housemade aioli and housemade fermented hot sauce. Dip the bread in the oil from their shrimp dish too. Just amazing.
This place is very small than expected nevertheless it has very good small plates (tapas), they have very good selection of wine and cocktails as well.
Definitely recommend for drinks and small food but not for full fledged dinner!!
We came here before a theater show at Strand. I lived in SF for 15 years and it pains me to see the neighborhood around this place but the restaurant is great! Good cocktails, really great appetizers. We will come back for dinner!
Went for dinner before a theater show nearby. We were seated in the covered patio outside, though we weren't given notice or choice. Service was ok, overall nice. At the end of the meal they repeatedly tried to take away dishes that we hadn't yet finished eating. Food was ok: a few dishes were very good (e.g. cod croquettes or the marinated carrots) but in general not outstanding, a bit bland, and overpriced.
La Bande is situated under the Proper Hotel, with the entrance on Market Street where the corner of McAllister and Jones meet. It's not the cutest neighborhood, but once you're inside you are free to enjoy yourself in an intimate space. I haven't sat in the outside area, but the inside is perfect for a date or happy hour with friends and coworkers. Food and drink are delicious! But if you come very hungry be ready to rack up a bill. Once you come, ask for Josh, and he'll take very good care of you for the night! Thank you Josh!
I had a dinner here with some friends. The food has delicious and the atmosphere was good even though it was a weekday. We had a nice night, quiet place. We wanted to go to the rooftop but it was pretty busy.
Amazing place! We went yesterday night and the food was spectacular but what impressed me the most were the super friendly, empathetic and professional waiters. They were super attentive and very especially to our allergies and diets. They did an amazing job! :)

It’s moderately priced for SF standards!

Awesome little Spanish Bar. The food and drink are excellent. Josh as always is an affable server and treats us like family when we visit.
