Beautiful coffee shop located at the end of a walkway taking you past a few specialty stores. High quality coffees made by friendly staff. They recently chose to be 100% environment friendly by eliminating paper and plastic cups - only glass now. Get a coffee and browse the nearby stores or even visit the barber shop that sits right next to it!

This place was amazing. My brother and I both had cappuccinos that were both delicious and beautiful. We also tried out one of the chocolate almond croissants and one of the traditional croissants. They were both warmed up for us and delightful. The space is great with the different storefronts and several different types of seating available. Since we had never been there before we asked some questions about the options and the staff was very polite and knowledgeable. One of my favorite things to do is watch someone who is good at their craft, and I was not disappointed at James Coffee. You can even sit at the bar behind the counter and watch them all in action. The stores where not open the first time we went so we actually came back later in the day to go through the stores. I believe that I spoke with the owner in the James At Home Shop and he was very nice and helpful. You can really tell from the space and the quality of product that they produce that this is not just a job but a passion. I highly suggest stopping in and giving it a try if you are in the area.

I stopped by to get a pound of coffee beans as a gift. I was here on Feb 18th afternoon, I didn't get their names, but the two employees working were so helpful and knowledgeable. I wasn't sure which coffee besn to purchase they even gave me samples of what they were brewing. My husband loves the coffee I got. Will definitely be back on my next trip to San Diego.

Pros: Amazing coffee, vegan options, cool atmosphere, reusable cups and dishes.
Cons: Parking sucks in this area (in case anyone hasn't been to Little Italy before), food could be better (but they're obviously focused on the coffee, so I get it).

coffee was delicious but the baristas were extremely rude and condescending to my husbands aunt.
i watched them literally roll their eyes when she was taking a minute to decide on what to order.
as a barista myself i find this absolutely ridiculous.especially when she wasn’t being rude or difficult she was just being indecisive.

Location has a great vibe, and we love the reuseable jars to avoid single use materials. Coffee is delicious. We also enjoy their non-coffee drinks as well.

Cool setting with little shops inside. I ordered a vanilla latte and my friends ordered other cold lattes (honey cinnamon and condensed milk). They were all not too sweet which is my preference. But the drink itself was mostly milk. Did not taste a whole lot of espresso. Overall a chill setting. The planes do go right overhead and it's pretty loud. Does not bother me but may bother someone who is easily startled.
Update: I am taking away one star for bubble guts. If you don't do dairy stay away!

Always a pleasure!! Coffee, top notch local roaster, my daily grind. Has outside roof top/ stairs access seating. And parking/ free. Great place to see airplanes over head. Has nice pastry treats, inside, WiFi. Can be handicapped access.

I visited James Coffee on 1/14/23 at around 12pm. Barista on POS was friendly and the transaction went smooth. Unfortunately the negative review starts after I received my drinks.
A drink was made incorrectly and I was met with friction when I had asked for a correction. After receiving the correction, I noticed that I didn't get an espresso requested "for here". The barista said that "I must have not been charged for it". Within seconds of the exchange, I was then served an espresso in a takeout cup, noticing that the shot originated from an espresso ready to be served "for here". I find it weird how quickly it was done on account of "not being charged for it".
The espresso was obviously dead on account of how cold it was and the lack of any crema.
Given it was pretty busy with how long the line was, it might have been an off day for the one barista of three on bar.
EDIT: They've responded to the review and I'm currently awaiting for a response regarding the situation.
EDIT 2: Amends were made, hoping that steps will be taken to improve baristas on the floor.

Super awesome spot. It's a really big space with lots of little shops (a barber, a gift shop, etc). The coffee is amazing and it's a good spot to work out or hang. There's even a small arcade and some chess tables.
Very much recommend this spot! (Although note, it's a bit expensive!)
