Good coffee. Cute space. Friendly baristas.

The atmosphere is peaceful and and the coffee is so smooth. I loved that the barista had so much knowledge about the product. The service was awesome and super friendly. Definitely coming back here and supporting local business!

The coffee is ok but really expensive. The interior is very poorly designed (tin roof acts like a magnifying glass for the sun so way too hot + open sides to building adds to the heat or cold). They had a few fans blowing but were too far from tables. Power outlets for laptops are also too far from tables so not a good place to work. Like so many coffee shops in San Diego, it looks good but functions badly.

I went to a wedding that Genteel set up for, and it was one of the coolest parts of the night. Super amazing coffee, and such fun interaction with the guests. I also visited their downtown location and it was awesome. Definitely worth stopping by!

Super laidback and rustic coffee shop inside of a warehouse, which houses other goods from different companies in the community. The space itself kind of reminded me of home (San Francisco) due to the aesthetic - especially the use of mixed materials and plants. The baristas were kind and patient with me when I bombarded them with questions (I used to be a barista at thirdwave coffee shops!) about what beans they use, etc... The coffee and pastries are delicious with plenty of milk and seasonal options. Definitely a place I would visit again when I'm back in town!

When I heard that a pop up coffee shop was setting up shop across the street from my school (Newschool or Architecture + Design) I was jazzed. Once I actually had their coffee I was even more excited. Genteel is run by Justin who is incredibly sociable and makes pour overs from my dreams. If you're in the area definitely try this spot!

Require face masks to go in yet do not in force it after you order.

Would not sell me a to go drink because I had no mask. I think asked if I could order from outside and he said that I would have to come inside to pay so he refused to serve me coffee.

Mind you, no one is in line and they are empty. He could not walk around the counter and take my money from me?

The owner is one hard working dude who makes some really fantastic coffee! Ive had one the best pour over I ever had here. Passion mixed with hard work and kindness is what its all about. Ill definitely go 20 minutes out of my way for this.

This place has the best original coffee drinks out of the many coffee shop options in North Park. Baristas are so nice and friendly as well!
