Steeltown Coffee & Tea

Great local coffee shop in downtown Pittsburg, located in the Mechanics bank Building (props for oval mixed use of space). I really like the fact that the common flavorings are house infused... and the baristas use a light touch here...

Most of the coffee is four barrel, not easy to get in east bay, although they highlight a guest roaster for the month that is based in the greater bay area.

Plenty of seating available at a bar, scattered tables/chairs, or a large table in the back. The vibe is friendly and quiet, I try to stop in whenever I am passing by...

All the baristas are super nice. I always get the Honey Badger which tastes just like liquid Teddy Grahams and it's awesome! My husband always gets the Spiced Mocha and it's also awesome. Love this cute little gem in Old Town Pittsburg!

I love this place. They care about quality and they are friendly. Prior to COVID I loved coming here to study. The atmosphere is nice, and I almost always see someone I know! Definitely has that local vibe and small town feel!

Last Saturday, Steeltown had an afternoon tea. It was awesome. We had a variety of finger sandwichs and tea. It was fun to sample new tastes! I got to sit with 3 very delightful young women. We all enjoyed it!

I really like the baristas (they are really so nice), and I even like the owner (who is referred to as the Coffee Nazi), so writing this review makes me cringe because I really wanted to give this place five stars (because it's an indie coffee shop and the aesthetic is hip and modern). So why only one star? Because it's inconsistent. I can have good coffee one visit and bad coffee the next, even with the same person making it. Maybe their house coffee changes and that's what makes it inconsistent? Through the years, I've also noticed high turnover, which is never a good sign. Yes, sometimes the owner can be "moody", but who isn't at times?

If I go back, I think I'll ditch the coffee and stick with the tea and smoothies from now on.

I only go on Saturday's but it makes me look forward to the weekend for that very reason! The staff is smart and funny. Super delicious lattes and The art is out of this world ! Honey badger is giving me life!

The best coffee/tea blended drinks EVER! I even have a customer card! The staff is so nice and for a great price! I love it so much I go there almost every morning!

Came in to study and was pleasantly surprised they had Italian soda. I got a cherry lime and it was delicious. The chair I was in was comfy, lighting and music were great. Would go back in a heartbeat when I need a place to study.
