Heartwood Eatery

Had lunch there today and loved it! I had the chimcurri bowl. It was fresh and delicious. Price was good and I enjoyed the eating outside option. Masks required and everyone was respectively social distancing. Staff was kind and knowledgeable.

They have the best iced Americanos and they’re salads are amazing. The hours are limited, so get in while you can. Also their gluten free seed bread is so good and on Tuesdays you can buy a loaf for $8!

One of my favorite places in the county. Unfortunately, a catered to lgbtq+ table cut in in front of the line. Then stole my food off the counter. Instead of confronting entitled, confused, out of towners about the "mistake", Heartwood made us another couple meals. Heartwood lost two meals to thives and my respect for the sheepish reaction. Thanks for supporting the entitled thief who will continue to steal and be sure no one will confront them because accusing a thief of stealing is anti- 🌈 🏳️‍🌈
The flags are beautiful, theft and disrespect is not immune to any community. Time to start self policing the community to represent the true nature of the citizens of the community.

Heartwood has the most amazing toast that comes along with their miso soup! The girl working said their supplier is in auburn. Amazing flavor in the soup, and the salted butter was such a good match.

Very disappointed in the service here. Sunday hours clearly shows open until 4pm. I noticed they changed the sign to "CLOSED" about 15mins early to deter new customers from entering. However that didn't stop the person in front of me from entering, so I followed immediately behind. The cashier successfully took the order of the person in front of me. It was now 3:50pm by the time I walked up to the cashier to place my TAKE OUT order only to be rudely confronted by this tall, younger guy from the back. He proceeded to lie to me by telling us they were supposedly having "technical difficulties" even though the person in front of me literally just placed their order a minute prior. We all know they just wanted to close early and didn't want to serve more people as closing time approached. I really don't appreciate liars and rude staff. To make it worse, I saw a few tables where other customers were seated and still waiting for their food, so they were definitely not closing anytime soon.

This incident happened today, Sunday January 9, 2022.

If you like avocado toast then this the place for you. They also have great coffee. You know a good coffee when you don't need to add sugar. Also the atmosphere is warm and friendly and there's lots of seating. The gluten free seed bread is really good.

Heartwood rocks. It always has and it always will. Great wholesome food and reasonable prices

Love this restaurant. Vegetarian bowls and toasts are excellent. My go-to place in Nevada City when I pass through. Tall ceilinged and wood and old brick. Great ambience.

Gluten free bread is phenomenal. That's why I go there. For a salad place, I wish they had a couple more vegan friendly non-vegetable things. Olives, cashew cheese, Seitan, etc... just a couple additions would make this even more fantastic.
