Mendocino Cafe

Let me clarify that this rating only addresses the food quality. The service and ambiance here were both outstanding. But the food was terrible, and extremely overpriced for the quality. I ordered the panko crusted pork loin which arrived gristly and slightly undercooked and caused violent illness before the meal was even over. Thank God they had a bathroom. Every item my family ordered they complained was either dry, burnt, or both. I told the busser about the burnt and dry items and he took them away almost untouched, but the bill was not adjusted. They need to fix their food prep pronto. Getting that ill from poorly prepared food that was $38 a plate should have resulted in a call to the health department, but it was Saturday, so......we won't be back.

This is an excellent restaurant. They have a gigantic outdoor patio. We came right at 5pm for dinner and I got the pot roast. They have decent beer on tap and good desserts. Highly recommended especially because not too much is open here in the summer of 2021.

We had a lovely lunch (soup/salad/sandwich) here on the upper patio, with great food, service and views. Thoroughly pleasant experience.

Surprisingly good offering of food, food itself was decent. Felt good to eat sitting down at a restaurant again and they have a really nice outdoor atmosphere. I got the Thai Burrito and other than some of the peppers being undercooked which gave it an odd texture it was pretty good.

Very good food. Was disappointed that a soup I ordered should have come with a warning label for spice heat. Not all people can handle spice heat. They did bring me a replacement soup with no problem and then I could enjoy my soup and salad meal. Beware the tomato bisque, it's Hot!!!

Very disappointing! We were visiting Mendocino for the first time and looking for a nice place for dinner. We found this place, took a look at the online menu and decided to give it a try since both my wife and I enjoy Thai food. The menu reflected several dishes with Thai influence which sounded excellent. The first issue was the price difference between the website and the actual restaurant menu. Each dish was considerably more than shown on their website. This can be easily forgiven if the food lives up to the cost. Unfortunately ours did not. The one exception to this is the appetizer we ordered, chicken satay with a cucumber salad. The online menu showed a cost of $12. The actual price was $15. The chicken was good and the cucumber salad was delicious but it was definitely not a $15 dish. The dish consisted of 3 skewers with 3 small pieces of chicken and the salad on the side. The appetizer was the highlight of the meal unfortunately. For the main course we both ordered the Thai burrito which sounded amazing. It most certainly was not! I could not even choke the entire thing down. The online menu showed $16 and the actual cost was $18. Anyhow, I would not recommend this place. If you can't get a burrito right, its' time to re-evaluate.

We only had to wait a short bit for an incredibly delicious dinner. We split the warm spinach salad with chicken and the Indian masala Curry with prawns. The salad was delicious with a nice light but tangy dressing and the masala curry was amazing, enhanced by the green mango chutney. If we weren't leaving town we would go back for a repeat tomorrow!

Wonderful clam chowder, and delicious Brazilian fish stew and Thai hot pot. Both entrees are gluten and dairy free. Their outdoor tent is comfortable enough. This cafe truly saved us from having to drive to Fort Bragg for every meal.

My husband and I went here tonight to celebrate our honeymoon, and they did not disappoint! The wine was amazing, the view fantastic, and our entrees, the specials, were to die for. Paired with great service, we had an amazing dinner. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Had sauteed calamari! Lovely. We got catch cafe blackened n big river salad w chicken. Delicious. Racer 5s on tap and very friendly service. Delightful!
