Birdcage Coffee House

I live very close to this shop but don’t go very often. Every time I go their service and the overall quality of their product is top notch. However the 5 Stars is for a simple interaction I had with one of their employees; I ordered a large iced coffee and a pastry as I was with my 4 year old daughter. After the gentleman behind the counter gave me the two items I realized I hadn’t brought my cash or debit card. The individual stated that it was no problem and to just pay me back tomorrow as if I was a regular or something. He was willing, without skipping a beat, to give me their wares for free. Luckily my wife was close and I was able to pay my bill but this interaction always stuck with me.

The owner was so friendly. Cool vibe inside and seating outside. Variety of drinks and snacks.

I must say, the owner is a wonderful guy. Very kind hearted. I had no cash with me on my first time coming in. Instead of sending me to the ATM, he told me to just pay him next time! What a rare gem to find a place like this. They serve Italian coffee which I had never had. The atmosphere is something I had been searching for in a coffee shop since I moved from the Northwest recently.

Great place with a very friendly atmosphere. The Owner and employees are always very happy to see anyone who walks in the door. The coffee is delicious, but so is their fresh made juice and other goodies! Such a relaxing vibe as well, I definitely recommend grabbing a drink and taking a seat outside...

Excellent coffee shop! Very quirky on the inside. It’s great for a meeting or date. The coffee I had, a Vanilla Frappe, was really good too. They only accept cash, and you will have to pay for a parking meter.

I love it here. Super quirky, lovely neighborhood spot. Everyone says hello when they walk in. The coffee is superb. They use Lavazza. I've never tried the smoothies or juices, but they smell delicious while they make them fresh. Solid selection of freshly made sandwiches. You can also have a glass of wine or champagne while you work! High speed internet, not a lot of outlets, though. And it is in a downtown neighborhood, so people pop in yelling and testifying ever so often. I love how patiently everyone listens and waits for the end of the "transmission." On the weekends there are live parrots and parakeets swooping through the space and posing for pictures. Not to be missed!

This review is long over due. I travel for work and I find small coffee shops like this and become a regular for the time I'm in the area. The decor the atmosphere the owner all great. I ate breakfast and lunch there for the better part of 2 months. A year later visiting I stopped in and the owner remembered me and my favorite sandwich. Getting to know the owner he is the kindest and most outgoing person. Long Beach is home to many curb side donut and coffee houses. But if you are ever in the area and you want a real, quiet, where everyone is excepted this is your place. When I visit again in April the shop will be my second stop. First being Randy's burgers hahaha(sorry bird cage). But I know he again will remember me and my favorite sangy. Thanks for the great service and hospitality

This place is the best coffee shop in the area! Owner is an extremely gracious person. It is cash only and I had just my debit card in sith me. I told him I would be right back as to find an ATM to pull some money but he made me my coffee anyway and that I could pay him back later. Kind hearted people still do exist! 🙂
