Café Maddalena

Best filet mignon I’ve ever had, cooked perfectly, paired with a very nice glass of Pinot Noir. The red wine reduction sauce was delicious. The scalloped potato side dish was amazing!! Great place for a fine meal.

Cafe Maddalena offers a somewhat elevated dinning experience which there are very few (if any) such places in this part of Northern California. So, kudos for stepping away from the expected.

We stayed in Dunsmuir to fish the Upper Sacramento River with Jack Trout.
Cafe Maddalena is a gem in this small town. They hire the best chefs they can to work there. The service was really good and the food was outstanding! The kitchen is open and the chefs can see us and vice versa.....a bit unusual. We ate there 2 nights in a row and complemented the chefs both nights.

Fancy and overpriced, the shrimp appetizer was probably the best thing we had.

The pasta was run of the mill, fish was overcooked, and the steak "meh" for $30.

Probably the only "fine dining restaurant" In the area, but if you just walk up the street to the brewery you'll spend half as much, be twice as full, and actually be satisfied.

Must reserve ahead of the time, food is tasty and right portion. A pleasant sitter area, we enjoyed our entrees , stuffed mushrooms, cod ,, appetizers are vege thin pizza and crispy oyster , sooo tasty and fresh! Love this place and we’ll do it again.

This little restaurant on a corner in Dunsmuir serves excellently prepared food and has a nice wine list and friendly refined service. Sitting outdoors under the grape arbor on a summer evening is hard to beat for charm. I only wish I had had room for the delicious looking desserts

Dinner at Cafe Maddalena last Saturday night was absolutely incredible. We began our dining experience with a wonderful dinner salad. The ladies enjoyed a very well rounded sauvignon blanc. At dinner the ladies enjoyed halibut, with creamer potato's, fresh peas and asparagus, in a beurre blanc sauce. Absolute Heaven!
Our son Brian an I ordered the seafood Bisque, which was served in a bowl filled with shrimp, scallops and assorted mussels.in a shallow pool of the most delectable bisque. Every variety of seafood was prepared to perfection. Although sliced a little thinner then expected, these little gems were so tender that you could cut them with your tongue. A truly unforgetable dining experience. Dessert was more of a question than a suggestion. Everyone of us felt just right, no one had over eaten, but the idea of a food coma was passed around the table a few times. We all shared the most delectable pastry dessert with an almond cream. Pure perfection! Our server was wonderful and although I didn't mention it earlier, the focaccia reminded me of the "Ligeria Bakery" in San Francisco. Yes, it was that perfect.
I must say that the entire evening was perfect. The drive isn't straight, but the average speed was a comfotable 70 M.P.H. and it is an easy beautiful, short 45 minute one.
If you have not been to this amazing epicurean delight in the heart of Dunnigan, you really need to treat yourself to a perfect night out.

Cafe Maddalena offers a wonderful, high-class dining experience. The restaurant is beautifully arranged and decorated to provide an intimate dining setting.

The oysters, pasta, and wine selections are higher in price than other restaurants, but the quality is well worth the investment.

During a real deluge of rain the owner gave us shelter and we enjoyed the delicious desserts and wine! The staff welcomed us and we had excellent service! We'll be back for a planned full dinner when next in Dunsmuir. Thanks!
