This restaurant is an upscale $$$ dining experience with a local vibe.
The white linen table cloth is covered with white paper. The service is great. The food is/was exceptional and the Chefs prepared our Filet and Haddock to perfection. This is a little more pricey than most might be use too but, it is well worth it. The dining experience and the food is exceptional. Don't expect hamburgers, fried chicken strips, or meatloaf. This is the place to broaden your palate.

Outstanding! We have been treating ourselves to Maddalens for decades. The quality of the meals, the service are top notch. We go monthly and enjoy the seasonal menu that is delicious. My all time favorite is always the seared scallops. Indoor or outdoors you can not go wrong. LOVE this establishment!

A group of 8 of us had dinner at Cafe Maddalena and spent $620 for dinner, including tip. While I love the space and the quaint atmosphere of the restaurant, I’m giving it 3 stars for the following reasons:
1) The service was not good. Our waitress was definitely overwhelmed with other tables so she was rushed and not friendly. Not once during the dinner she proactively approached the table to ask if everything was good or if we needed anything else. There was no greeting, she just shared the specials, took our order, brought the food to the table when it was ready and put the check on the table when we were done but no engagement otherwise. She also forgot two appetizers (padrone peppers) that we had ordered.
2) The food quality didn’t match the price. While overall it was good there were some misses - my husband’s entree had potatoes that were undercooked. The risotto in my scallops dish was cold. The fried squash blossoms appetizer had so much batter that literally disintegrated the blossoms.

What I love about the place is how accommodating they were with a large party in such a small space, and that the chef baked a delicious cheesecake for our special dinner.

I realize that with Covid, it has been much harder for restaurants to get going again. I was happy to support this place and I would recommend it to people.

We enjoyed a most excellent meal at Cafe Maddalena, this past Friday. In the half dozen times we've eaten dinner there, we've never been disappointed. Appetizers were unique, and very tasty. Everyone was happy with their entree, ranging from mussels in a Japanese curry sauce, to spaghetti carbonara, a perfectly cooked filet of sole, and a delicious beef stew. Not much room for dessert, but, the coffee creme brulee (with four spoons) was sublime.

Love the flavors but a bit ritzy but if the portions were a little bit bigger it would justify price and one would feel full. The Ambiance is okay the waiters for a bit over attentive but some people might like that, super polite and friendly. I have the lamb it was superb my wife had the chicken plate and she said it was for very good.

We've been here several times now and tonight I felt I must update my meal review. The setting was lovely in the garden patio, it was a Sunday evening mid August. Our server was kind & tried to be attentive but was rushed because it was busy. Our appetizer & salad dishes were very nice, but our entrées were not very good. My cod was served with a very thick romesco sauce that was more of a paste than sauce & hubby's swordfish was undercooked. Unfortunately our meal was not as good as meals we've enjoyed there in past visits. I would still recommend the restaurant, but maybe try to visit on less busier evenings. At 8:45 PM I noted customer still coming in the doors..
My hopes is the chef will see this review as good feedback and not so much as as a bad criticism.

We had few hikes and we came to this hotel for dinner. It's must eat place atleast once when you visit mt.Shasta.
Great service and awesome food.
Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly as mentioned in book.

Little bit expensive, but worth the money.

This is truly a hidden gem!!! The fast friendly and excellent service is second to none! Everything from the appetizers to the dessert and coffee are well prepared and something you would expect from somewhere like the French Laundry or Thread. It's a must go and we're definitely going back !!

I don't even know where to start with how much we love this restaurant! We have a vacation rental in Dunsmuir and send people there all of the time, based on our experience dining throughout the year. Every guest has thanked us profusely, some saying they'd heard similar kudos from others, and knew they had to check it out.
The menu changes every 6 weeks, and if you like great food and ambience with superb service, you'll be very happy. We have enjoyed both the special prix fixe menus for Valentine's Day, as well as the open menu items.

In winter, the cozy and inviting restaurant beckons. In summer, the garden seating with the grape-laden arbors and gorgeous lighting and landscaping enchant.

Perhaps my only complaint falls on former diners who were allowed to bring dogs to the garden and they were ill-mannered. Our place is dog-friendly and our guests love taking their best friends out for dinner. So maybe the policy will shift back to dog-friendly, as we say, for friendly dogs only!

Go. You will love Cafe' Maddalena.

Wow.... we were headed back from bend, Oregon and famished. We had a local recommended we try this local cafe. We walked in and they said it was gonna be an hour wait and the smell of the place was so amazing we almost waited . We walked out and decided to go back in and order to go. Veronica saved the day and changed our life forever. Amazing experience from beginning to finish. We tried a glass of the recommended red that painted amazing with the buttersqaush soup that started dinner. Just watching the way everything ran and how efficiently our food and server moved was amazing. Second course I tried the seared trout with brussel sprouts. Still thinking about the taste profile as I drive. My sister got the sole with cream sauce and dungeon crab. I of course had to sneak a bite. The fish was cooked amazing and paired with the cream sauce and lentil amazingly. We didn't want dessert but our server brought us a apple cobbler anyway. It was my first and let me say the bar is set high. Thanks for the amazing experience!
