Café Carmel

Poor ventilation and overcrowded with limited seats. Need to wait for everything !! Don't recommend if in a hurry.

We ordered the quiche and it was not fresh. They reheated in the microwave which made the crust soft and unpleasant. The cafe was not very clean appearing, boxes everywhere.
Coffee and side salad was very good.

Soooo good the ice cream and milkshake *_*

we came here as a back up to our original choice for breakfast on a sunday and it was extremely disappointing. it's too expensive for what you actually order and receive on your plate. the atmosphere itself is a pretty big bummer as well because of the staff. the food seemed like it should've been priced at least half off for what we realistically got. i wouldn't really suggest coming here as most of the options behind the glass didn't look too appetizing either.

Popped in about 8am and ordered 2 brewed coffees and 2 pastries. Paid a hefty price for them. When they served the coffee and I asked for cream they said they didn't have any. No apologies or standard customer service. The gal was kinda snotty when she said they would have some later in the day and and acted as if it is perfectly normal for there to be no cream in a COFFEE SHOP!

I would give this place negative stars if I could. Person gave my husband his coffee and didn’t close the lid properly so he burned his mouth and spilled everywhere. Such a dangerous move and they should be sued. Didn’t even bother to apologize. On top of that, they forgot to include the vanilla in his vanilla latte. Warning, avoid this place!! There are much better places with at least decent customer service.

Great coffee and they have a much better selection of pastries and breakfast items. My husband and I went here several time during our trip. They also have smoothies that are dairy free. Their coffee shots tastes better than some of the other shops on the street too.

Typical carmel price, but without the quality you would hope, espresso was a bit stale and my $15 or so sandwich had all the prosciutto wadded, cheese barely warmed, and the toast was dry and cut my gums. That said, the sweets were great.

Service from one of the staff members terrible. She seemed completely bothered by us being there, and several other guests after us (as we waited for our food). The website said the close time was 9pm. We went in at 5:45 to order some items for take out dinner. I was told the oven was already turned off, so none of the hot food on their menu was available. When I was trying to order a turkey wrap, I was told that turkey is considered hot because they have to cook it. The nice staff person making the food corrected the person taking our order. Next I ordered a roast beef sandwich, and again was told it was hot food because they have to cook the roast beef. The nice staff person again corrected the woman taking our order, telling her that they are all cold cuts, and don’t have to be cooked. I could see they were ready to close down, and hoping no one else would come in. There were, however, other guests who were also (in my opinion) treated as if they were an inconvenience. The staff person was cleaning the espresso machine, and instead of a “welcome in! I’ll be right with you” gave out a “give me a second, ok?” to the guest waiting to order. Bad service, especially for Carmel. I’m a local, and likely won’t return.

Great planner right in the heart of Carmel. I tried the breakfast burrito and it was amazing. So good, came with fresh pico and hot sauce. I would drive a good distance to get this burrito. Stop in!
