What can I say about the place that revolutionized coffee in America? So let me point one thing about: it happened in Berkeley. Not San Francisco, not Palo Alto. Not Los Angeles or New York or Boston or Atlanta. Coffee may have been born elsewhere, but it lives in Berkeley.

First Peet’s! I love coming here. After I go on walks in Tilden Park, I like to stop here for a latte or an earl grey tea. Peet’s loose leaf tea is quite exceptional and worth the price!!

An institution. The first Peet's. Great coffee and excellent service.

Peet's #1, the founder's original location at Walnut Square, Berkeley... Alfred Peet perfected the selection of outstanding bean varieties, used ideal roasting methods, and created the best toasting coffees available anywhere in the world ! 10 Stars !

One of the original Peet's coffees, their espresso is pretty good. There isn't a whole lot of seating is this particular location, but the service is friendly and it's usually pretty crowded no matter what time it is. I'd recommend walking up the street a ways to Philz Coffee.

Nothing like dealing with an employee who made it clear its her last day working and being extremely rude when i defend myself one of the regulars who appeared homeless verbally attaxked me while maskless. useless manager and horrible customer service . also my drink was not good....

Whoa...all these years of coming here and no review...until now. I used to drive down here in the 80's to stock up on coffee and then trek back to Sacramento. It was like a ritual. Now you can find Peet's everywhere, thankfully.

The corner location is like a tourist attraction; while sitting here two young women posed in front of the coffee grinder out in the back. The first Peet's Coffee. The back area, that was once the roasting room, is now like a mini-museum of sorts with lots of photos, a coffee grinder and plenty of space. They could probably add some tables and chairs back here too.

I discovered a secret button on the wall, push it and a video comes on the little flat screen monitor that illustrates the history of Peet's Coffee. Directly across from where the bar stool seating area is!

The original shop and still a favorite. I'm in love with the French Roast. This is a great place to run into a lot of the old Berkeley crowd.

Private equity forms keep churning, stopping off value, flipping once premium places like this. The clerk's fly through the revolving door and know less and less.... Are replaceable widgets in toxic capitalist's were dreams. Sad. My Peet would be unhappy to know what happened to his impeccabley integrity, high quality gem.
