Onyx Coffee Lab - Bentonville

The coffee was good. This is why they get 2 stars instead of 1. We were a group of about 12, we had been to a local museum most of the day that had hiking trails & it was very cold outside. We all had been looking forward to the cozy coffee shop vibe at Onyx downtown Bentonville all day. When we got there, we moved a couple of chairs over to our area to accommodate us all, about 4 feet from their original spot so not far. Our group was made up of 3 families with older, mostly college age, polite kids. The chairs weren’t being used. But a barista with red hair behind the counter kept looking at us annoyed. She was very rude & unfriendly the entire visit, like acted stressed that anyone dare enter her coffee shop & need service. When some of our kids got up just to go to the record store down the block, we adults were going to stay & visit until they got back, she heightened her voice, looked at all of us and said “move those chairs back before you leave!”. We still needed the chairs, so we ignored her, bc we weren’t ready to leave & the fact that she embarrassed herself bc others were looking at her like why the shouting. It was weird & not what we expected from a place like Onyx especially when you’re paying $6-8 for a coffee. I know our group probably spent over $100 & still got treated like that. It’s just wrong. People go to a coffee shop to sit, socialize, & escape the cold. If you’re no more accommodating than that in the service industry then you should prob find another job.🤷🏻‍♀️

Absolutely divine coffee, pastries, and service! My honey lavender cappuccino was amazing. I forgot to ask for it to be less sweet, but no worries, it was lovely as they made it. The chocolate croissant was perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, with warm chocolate oozing out. What a treat. The employees were smiling and friendly and the place itself is very stylish inside, with stainless appliances and tiled countertop. We will definitely come back next time we’re in Bentonville. Note that this place can get very busy on Saturday morning with the farmer’s market. Thankfully we came back Sunday morning and the line was much shorter.

Oh my... going back tomorrow for sure. I got the Onyx Delight (honey, cinnamon and possibly nectar of the gods?). The inside is so lovely. Hipster amazingness everywhere. Just fun.

This place was so, so busy during the Saturday morning farmers market. With good reason! It's such a cool place and everything on the bar is hidden underneath so it's very sleek. The coffee Tonix was GREAT. If you gently tap the ice cube, it'll mix the drink and bubble up really cool. Get your insta ready.

Onyx continues to deliver great service to the community by offering a walk up window and curbside pickup. Thank you for your hard work!

Update 9.3.21: Buyer Beware: Gift cards purchased online cannot be used in store. Very upset with the transition of the new POS system which seems to be agitating both staff and customers. I just spent nearly $100 unexpectedly because a birthday eGift card was unusable.

Coming from Kansas City, where we have a bunch of really great coffee shops, I was truly taken aback by how next level this place is. Not a lot of food choices, but what they do prepare is incredible. Highly recommend the avocado toast with pickled onions. As far as the coffee goes, many choices all of which can be served pour over. I don’t usually do specialty drinks, but the mocha was high key good.

Delish! Well organized, and clean spot! The food was delicious! We had the avocado sourdough, the club baguette, and the Onyx coffee.

Came back two days in a row for the Onyx Delight! The croissants were also top notch!

Love this place. I go every time I’m in town. Bright and buzzy in the mornings. Friendly staff - the gal at the register is the sweetest ray of sunshine. Coffee is delicious, so are the pastries.

Excellent coffee shop with a modern touch. Prices are good and they surprisingly serve craft beer here as well. A great Starbucks alternative.
