The Genuine

I visited with a group of friends for my birthday dinner. The services was lacking. Our server constantly forgot about us, and I had to ask another server for help to place our order. The portions are quite small, which makes them overpriced. The arugula salad was the only item that I liked since the rest of the food lacked flavor. There are other similar restaurants with much better food, portion sizes and service.

nice staff and a cool place for brunch/lunch

I came in with my boyfriend to check this place out. The decor is like a 70’s chic meets modern. Happy hour was on point and got a rose and the lamb meatballs… everything was great to say the least. One of the better parts of this experience was our server Hannah! I’m in the industry and bad service will quickly ruin a meal. Hannah was super attentive and had a smile at all times. Thanks Hannah and The Genuine, my boyfriend and I will be back for another date night.

The remodel is absolutely beautiful so I can't fault them for the interior or staff. Very disappointed by the menu. We were there for Sunday lunch/brunch. Nothing really stood out and the sandwich we ordered was served on basically raw bread. Inside of the sandwich was actually good. It feels to fancy for the area...or at least too fancy for a Sunday afternoon. We'd much rather just go to the Vig

I had been to the vig a few times and was never really impressed with the food. The Genuine is a big improvement. They have a wood fired grill and offer a nice selection of small dishes you can order to share with the table. They also have entrees if you prefer that route.

Some of the best service I've had in recent years. Menu is unique, but the food is all amazing.

I attended my high school reunion party at the Genuine and it was nice. The wait staff were friendly and always checked on everyone to make sure we were good with our drinks. The hostess was nice and also checked on us as well.

Overall a good experience (although I do miss the Vig that was in this location). Drinks were very good, but they forgot the second old fashioned that we ordered so we had to wait a little longer for that drink. For food we got the burrata and heirloom salad (they forgot the tomatoes) but actually the salad was still really tasty. I ordered the grilled octopus and my husband got gluten free pasta. Pasta was really good and octopus was good, a little tough and there was too much parsley or herbs on top of it, could have used more lemon less herbs. We would come back again for the drinks and appetizers

First impression when we walked in was How cool, how did we miss this place. The menu looked great and the server was nice and quick to take our order. But then when we got our salads, we were disappointed. The salad were small. That added chicken was dry, chewy and salty. Looked like it was old. My wife’s salad that was supposed to have shaved garden vegetables has 2 thin carrots and 2 thin radishes on a small bed of lettuce. That’s it for $14 and $19. So we picked at our salads and drank our drinks. The drinks we good, but the server never came back to check on our meals nor did she ask us if we wanted another drink until we were ready to leave. Also what I assume was the restaurant manager never stopped by to check on us. He was busy setting up the umbrellas and moving chairs. We did see the manager sitting down eating his lunch/dinner while we left. We paid the bill. Left a very small tip and will never return.

I used to like the vig uptown but I love the genuine. They did a beautiful revamp of the interior and even changed the entrance which works. I ordered the lamb sub and it was fantastic. Also two for one mimosas so that didn't hurt. Server was fun and a bit quirky. Overall a very good impression of this new addition to the neighborhood. Looking forward to coming back soon
