Charming little throwback diner! Great food, large portions, and a classic menu! You can get breakfast all day, too! Give the reindeer sausage a try.

Kitchen split breakfast was ok but pretty ordinary for what seemed canned foods, etc. The service was good and atmosphere pleasant.

We visited in the off season and were thankful it's one of the few places that open early for breakfast. Come hungry; the portions are huge! Service was prompt and attentive - our coffee mugs were never empty. Happy to recommend.

My family and I had eaten here several times. The food is good, which is a plus, but there are also minuses.
Service is good, wait times can be long (we waited 1 hour), and prices are expensive.
I would absolutely go back.

Have had many great meals here. Most recent visit was Sunday breakfast with my 13 months old grandson. Great food and service as always!

Been here a few times. The service is great and l've enjoyed everything l've tried so far. I will say that l love their creamy tomato flourentine soup! 😋 It is styled like an old 50s diner, so l love the atmosphere. You can dine in or order to go.

The service here is very friendly -- the staff are simply wonderful. The food, however, was slow to come out, and was pretty bad. The halibut was overcooked and dry to the point that it made you feel bad that the fish gave up its life for this. It was so leathery that it was actually difficult to cut through, especially around the edges. The salmon burger wasn't fresh salmon, but was a prepackaged/frozen thing -- and, even with that, we've still had better frozen salmon patties at home. But who expects to find prepackaged and frozen in the Salmon Capital of the World? Even the French Fries weren't very good.
Pioneer Cafe made up for all of this by charging a lot for the food. 😉 Okay, I'm kidding -- as far as Ketchikan prices are concerned, Pioneer Cafe is actually one of the less expensive joints in town -- but not cheap enough to make up for the quality of the food.
The service was really friendly, but I still recommend going elsewhere. We heard from some locals that the Alaskan Fish House is very good.

The special today was a delicious spicy burg with jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, bacon, and bbq sauce... really tasty! Crisp fries, super fresh iced tea. Fun place and if you're lucky, the singing waitress will be on duty!

50's styled down home diner. Rootbeer float was the best and the biscuits & gravy was like my grandmas!! Yum..the chowder was great too!
