Great service; the breakfast was quite good. We did a bit if a sampler so I tried the quiche, chicken fried steak and the daily scramble. The food was very good. Breakfast is my favorite meal and this is one of the best I have had in Juneau.

Juneau has offered a lot of new experiences. The them that ties them all together is the friendly community. That is shown really well at the Sandpiper Cafe. The food is well prepared and creative. I had a pumpkin pie pancake that was amazing. My GF had vegan pancakes which she loved. Vegans usually have a hard time finding places with vegan pancakes, so this was a wonderful treat. The inside is cozy and well kept. That staff are all attentive and nice. All in all, we loved our breakfast.

If you want the worst food in your life, this is the place for you! As an added bonus you get an arrogant staff with no regard for uncommon food allergies!
It's almost unfathomable how someone could turn a side of potatoes into a soggy sloppy mess, but this place never ceases to amaze and wonder!
Lastly, if you see online that this establishment has great vegan options, that person doesn't know what the word vegan means.
Hope this description helps with your decision to steer clear at all costs!

The Sandpiper was THE place to have brunch in Juneau 8 years ago. Their prices were reasonable, their portions were generous, and the quality of the food was nigh unbeatable. Over the years I have noticed their prices keep climbing, while the quality of their food and service has declined markedly. I recently went there for brunch during off-peak hours and this was my experience:
At first the wait staff gave me the wrong order. When I did get my plate, I had to wait another 10 minutes for the toast, which arrived heavily buttered (I did not ask for, nor did I want). The "home fries" were cut so large and crudely that they were nearly raw in the middle. The eggs were flavorless and all this was accompanied by two thin, scrawny pieces of bacon which I had added to my order for the price of $3.
Suffice to say, The Sandpiper has made its name in Juneau after years of providing quality and reasonable prices. Today, this restaurant is clearly resting on its laurels. There are cheaper places to eat in this town that serve better food, IMHO.

You can’t go wrong with breakfast here in Juneau. The entire menu is amazing and the service is great. Come here at least 2-3 times a month for breakfast. They serve breakfast and lunch. Really glad Juneau has a breakfast spot!! Hope you get alex as a waitress. Cute and very nice.

Fantastic! The food is exceptionally good, and the service was lightning fast! I don’t think we waited three whole minutes before our orders were ready. Servers here are polite and responsive and helpful. We ordered he bagels and lox. Delicious. I definitely recommend this place.

The service was attentive and very polite. And although (as most food in Juneau) it was a little pricier than I’d prefer at a diner, the Salmon omelette was definitely worth it. I’d leave a photo, but I couldn’t just stare at it, I HAD to eat it. :)

The service was fantastic. Like...our server felt so amped to be serving us that I swore we were on a prank TV show.
I had the crab eggs Benedict and it was AMAZING - a total must try in the area.
Great food!

The food here is good. I'd give it 4.5 stars. It is pricey, but you get a lot of food for the cost. The portions are large enough for 2-3 meals if you can contain your gluttony for how delicious it is.
The service, though, is what drops my rating from a 5 to a 3. It just downright sucks. There have been times I have had a good experience with the service, but 80% of the time it's a giant turd sandwich. What you can expect when you walk in is someone to let you know they'll be right with you, then disappear for 10 minutes. Eventually people will continue to file in, and the small waiting area will become very crowded. You'll look around and see plenty of tables available and set, and wonder how come the hoard that is now clogging the waiting area and breeze way hasn't been sat yet. Eventually someone will come to the podium, and begin seating people. It doesn't matter if you're there first or last, because the waiting area is so packed, whoever is right in front of the podium is seated first.
Table service is 50/50. Sometimes you'll get good service, other times they'll forget to fill your drinks, bring the check, or there will be confusion about which table they are waiting on.
I came here one morning, and had my food within ten minutes. The next day I waited 45 minutes to get my food. Half that wait time was for someone to take the order.
I imagine the only reason the place is still in business is because the food is some of the best in Juneau.

My favorite place in town for breakfast. I would give it 5 stars if the staff was like how they are in the winter were in the summer. I have truly experienced the worst service a couple of times. Our waiter even said the f word when we walked in 45 min until closing. He poured out coffee 15 in until closing and got mad bc I asked for more. I just felt so unwelcome. In the winter there are more friendlier locals working which is much better. I've been in love with their sausage for years!
