The redesigned Cubby Café inside the Hotel Captain Cook is fantastic! Spacious, modern, and lots of natural light in this expanded space on the ground floor of the Hotel. There’s even a large conference table for those offsite coffee meetings with coworkers. The baristas make excellent drinks (and always piping hot) and there’s a growing variety of food options too. Highly recommend a visit whether you’re staying at the Hotel or not.
Food was good, I got a breakfast burrito and an apple juice. Burrito is pre made and heated in an oven, but is pretty crispy and tasty. Biggest issue were all the flies! There were a bunch just cruising around the tables. Other than that, not a bad spot for a quick early morning breakfast.
The Cubby is a great place to relax with your coffee and snack while enjoying the comfortable furniture and street views. The Cubby is located in the Captain Cook Hotel near the elevators. If you're boarding a bus then you should consider taking a coffee and cookie along with you. I will caution you that if The Cubby is busy it could take a while because there is only one employee and checkout. Give yourself some time should you arrive during a rush.

Ordered a cappuccino yesterday and it was excellent. Ordered the same today, and the woman didn't know how to make it - tried 3 times and it was a latte each time. I even explained what a cappuccino was - coffee and foam essentially. I left the drink there without getting credit. Paid $4 for nothing. Don't hire a barista who doesn't know how to make espresso drinks.
The staff is always friendly, however today I bought a prepackaged Chicken Caesar Wrap from the Cubby and the whole bottom of the wrap was soggy & the lettuce inside was limp. Maybe a Friday or Saturday leftover? Not what I expected for $9.75.
The product is good, but when a person pays $6+ for a 20 oz. coffee drink, I wouldn't think they would be interested in 6 oz. of foam. Perhaps when making breve beverages, which have more of a foaming tendency, the barista should pepare enough Half and Half to remove the foam for the customer, so they can enjoy ALL 20 ounces.
I am eating what may be the best breakfast burrito I’ve ever had (Northern Slope w/reindeer sausage). Staying at the Captain Cook and happened to see The Cubby located within. I know what I’ll be having for breakfast every morning. ~Celeste from Kansas
