Cafe Beignet

Great taste of New Orleans in Bama ! Friendly service and great beignets and chicory coffee. Local family business not a big corporate outfit. Forget Waffle House or the garbage hotel breakfast bar.. Check em out.

A family favorite. Tables were sticky, but it is difficult to keep clean with all the powdered sugar. I tried the stuffed ones this time - not so good. Too much pudding to beignet and the beignet was a bit dark or burnt. Tasted like the oil needs to be changed.

Waitress was pleasant, but not particularly customer aware. She didn't move fast or with purpose. She was physically present, but not attentive.

Owner needs to invest a little of the profits to make it more presentable. Feels cheap.

That said, we will be back. Just wish for a more positive experience.

Waitress was friendly. Atmosphere was lackluster. I think the beignets tasted ok. They were overpriced, a bit greasy, and the dough was flat. I tried both the filled and plain beignets. The filing was a bit odd in my opinion. I preferred the plain beignets. Coffee was average. They had local art on the walls, which was nice.

Staff was nice but if you know what a beignet should actually taste like…this ain’t it. Tasted like the dollar tree of beignets.

We paid $8 for 2 cups of coffee. Not lattes or anything fancy. Just 2 very weak not hot cups of coffee. The cups leaked coffee when we tried to take a sip with the lid on. We did not try anything else since it was our first time there but the bad experience with the overpriced warm coffee was enough to put us off. We will not be back

The vanilla custard has a weird taste to it. Almost like a cheap Boston Cream pie. I would recommend getting the unfilled beignets. The art for sale on the walls is gorgeous though! Definitely a great idea and a nice way to showcase local artists!

Do not eat here if you have any tastebuds! Place is filthy and dusty. Lived in New Orleans, and that’s the only place where ive consistently ordered fresh beignets. Came with my family at 6:50AM and ordered a dozen beignets, but none of us could take more than a bite. If I was drunk I’d be able to eat it. My mom said that it tasted like they were fried in motor oil, and the powdered sugar tasted off. Man was friendly, but needs to clean out the fryer and use fresh oil.

We've been 3 times this week on our OBA trip. We dont have beignets at home so it's a treat to get this taste of New Orleans. They make the beignets to order and they are very good. Also a dozen is 12 dollars which I thought was a great price. I only got the beignets so not sure about the coffee or other baked items.

Fresh, fast, hot and made to order. Friendly staff. Definitely going to be a repeat customer.

This is a mom and pop shop and I really appreciate their hard work. And they really are working hard. However, the quality and atmosphere really suffers because they are under-resourced. Their beignets, while made to order, are dense and soggy and because they are so high volume with only one fryer, the oil is reused all morning and tastes like soap and poison. As someone who’s been to New Orleans and eaten a lot of beignets and doughnuts, these are truly terrible. Additionally, as commented by others, the place lacks general food hygiene and is not a good atmosphere (feels like you’re eating in someone’s basement). Because there is only one cook and one hostess/server/cashier, it is wildly inefficient - they forgot orders, miscommunicated, and overall were just too frazzled and overwhelmed. They were also not honest about the wait time. They said it would take “a little bit” and we waited over an hour. Then, I saw the folks behind me getting their order and had to remind them they just forgot my order!

TL;DR: Do not go here. Food bad. Atmosphere bad. Service bad.
