Because it is simply home away from original home. People been making sure I am good since I came to Montgomery. Been here since 1992 from Miami and Montgomery is home ever since. Davis Cafe, I love not only the food but the people. Shout out Nae Sheila Auntie and the whole crew. IN MY SHEILA VOICE, I NEED AAANNNNDDDDEEEERRRSSOOON

The food was amazing!! All home cooked good food. Great service and the restaurant inside is good. When you first look at it though you are going be to decieve as get outside does not look appealing. Order the omlet and the grits!!

If you ever find yourself in Montgomery, AL you have to pay Davis Café a visit. This place is an institution that has been woven into the fabric of the city's history. During the Montgomery bus boycott, Meetings were held here and it was one of the locations for the volunteer cab services organised at the time.

The place looks more or less like it did in the 1950's, down to the Green booths, and floral wallpaper. Open for breakfast and lunch only, if you go there after 2, the place looks like it's been shut down for years.
This place is not fancy, but it's a great place to get a meat and three, just like how your grandma makes it. The lunch menu is usually 1-3 meat options and then a number of sides, some might run out depending on when you go. They also have a number of cakes and desserts, like banana pudding, and red velvet cake.

The clientele here is very varied, from construction workers, to lawyers from nearby offices, and tourists. Everyone in Montgomery knows this place, and it shows. Portions are large and affordable. this is not a place to ask for customised orders based on your dietary needs. It is what it is and I hope it stays that way. Just good, home cooked food made with love and lots of sugar and butter.

Shout out to the cooks . I had a nice plate today and I didn't mind paying for it as usual, today I actually got my money's worth and I'll be going back. Wish they served more boiled okra in them beans and peas

My family and i love coming from the other side of town to The Davis Cafeteria for the best, most generous soul food in the city! I especially love the turnip greens and the collards with the most delicious cornbread muffins. The staff is always smiling and helpful and many times I purchase take outs to feed our shutins at church. Just talking about the place makes me want to go to town!! Carron morrow

Incredible food and wonderful people in a one of kind establishment! Do yourself a favor and order everything. It’s that good. And start with dessert. Trust me.

Great food, but the young lady that takes the orders and gives out the food need to work on her customer service skills. The rest of the staff is good.

The best. We stepped into a wonderfully hidden,taste of home cooking. Very good Soul food place to eat. We will be back, everytime we are in town.
